Installation Problem

OK here it goes,

My c: drive is formatted under NTFS and has Win2k on it. My d: partition is empty and is an Fat32 partition. I want to install win98 on the d: drive; but when I go to install it, it tells me that c: drive is an NTFS drive and it wont let me continue. Is there any way to get around this without changing my c: drive to Fat32??

Have you tried booting off your D drive before attempting to install?

I may be mistaken,but I think win9x can only go to C:\ win2k can go to d:\ You may be backwards.

No, Win98 can run off any drive because you can set what drive you want to boot off in the bios, and that gets treated at the C: drive. Or at least it did when I installed my 6.5 with my 1.5 on the secondary port.

If you want a dual boot (with boot.ini boot menu), the boot drive has to be FAT. If you want to control boot drive through motherboard BIOS, temporarily disconnect the w2k drive in order to intall w98 on the other drive (which will be C: during the install and, hopefully, when you select it as the boot drive).
