reloading my sisters computer and naturally she does'nt have the disk, can a xp pro disk be used without media center edition [disk 2] without a crap load of problems latter ?

the product key is on the pc, i just dont have a copy of mce disk.

MCE uses its own set of keys, you'll need the proper OEM MCE media.

xp pro did install with the pc's product key and sucessfully activated, i was surprised it did, just not sure if problems will arrise at some latter date, she lives a good ways from me.

Humm, I'm glad that worked for you. I'm rather stupefied it did since it shouldn't have, but whatever.😛

actually it didnt, device manager showed an unknown device that ended up being 'Away Mode' for mce, the drivers from HP errored on install and a crap load of problems in event viewer, as an exercise i installed Vista Premium with all updates that solved the 'away mode' driver not found.

its a pc that sis will only use as a standard desktop pc and wont tolerate any trouble from it or she just wont use it, hopefully i can find a way to disable whatever hardware 'away mode' uses in the bios to avoid any problems with it, not alot of info on the net for away mode.

Torrent a copy of MCE (a recovery cd copy from the same computer manufacturer if possible.) Use the key that came with your Sis's computer. Should be perfectly legal.
