Install Windows Media Player 6.4 on Windows XP?

I've been used to using Windows Media Player 6.4, and when I upgraded to Winxp, the new Windows Media Player 7 really bothers me. Its slow even though my system is a 2ghz P4 on 256 MB RDRAM. So I downloaded WMP 6.4 and did an install with Windows 95 Compatibility Mode selected, and it doesn't seem to be able to install... it always comes up with the error message "Error loading W95INF32.DLL" .. is there some way I can force the install of wmp 6.4 system? I know that 6.4 works because I've installed it before, and now suddenly there's this error message when i tried to do a reinstall ...

Just type "mplayer2" in the Run prompt.

So microsoft left 6.4 in XP too?.......hhmmmmmmm WM7/8 bloatware.

yup.....6.4 is included with xp, its what i'm using right now.
