Install question for new Rig - Brass or Plastic standoffs?

thatsright

Will be setting up my latest and greatest new PC tomorrow. It's a ABIT IC7 MB and P4c 2.4 with a gig of Hyper X PC3500, etc., etc.,.....

Anyway. I have the option of installing the MB with either Brass standoffs, or with Plastic ones. Is there any benefit to either? Any downside? I just don't want anything to short out the MB or system/power supply.

Thanks a lot

I've used both and have never encountered any issues with either. Be careful not to tighten the screws to tight if you use the brass standoffs as this will cause a short.

Just use some common sense and you'll be fine.

I have used both but prefer brass.

Why? B/C they have a more substantial "feel", IMO. The mobo seems to flex a lot less when using brass vs. plastic standoffs. They are also far more sturdy, standing up to removing/installing the mobo, which happens a bit these days when having to install monster HSFs.

YMMV, but I prefer brass.

Another vote for brass.

Threads get damaged too easily on plastic. (I usually keep a case through several motherboard installs/removals

Shorting should not be an issue...
