Install a second video card to play games?

In playing games, it is advised to disable dual-monitor support.

But in a dual monitor set-up, if I install a second video card, would it still be necessary to disable the dual monitor support?

ie, will a second video card driving the second monitor take some stress off the primary game card?

Thanks.

PS. I am thinking of installing this as a second card:

No, a 2nd video card will do nothing to improve performance. Typically, under a dual monitor setup, the secondary display is disabled when the games are started.

Didn't want to start a new thread for my related question...

My second monitor does NOT disable when I start playing a game. It hasn't always acted like this, but I had to send the CRT (primary display) away for warranty work, and when I got it back and set up dual support again, the LCD no longer turns off when I initialize a game. I've played with all the options I can think of, but nothing has made the second monitor turn off. Does anyone know how to "fix" this, short of disabling dual monitors for gaming?

Video Card: NVidia 6600GT
Driver: 66.32

Mine doesnt shut off duting games, but the resolution changes sometimes. Only way to shut it off is in the display control panel. I dont bother.

Edit 2 cards here, maybe duals on one card does make a diff, but on 2 cards/2 monitors there is no diff in benchmarks.
