Hrmm... Did it mention disabling Far Cry in the release notes? :D

Seriously though, I'd try doing a driver clean and installing the new ones again. Also try reducing your card to clock speed if it's overclocked. Beyond that, contact NVIDIA or revert back to previous drivers.

Sorry you're havin' trouble bud. :(

Did you uninstall the old drivers or install over your old drivers? What video card do you have?

-------------

No I've never done that before I thought nivida did it for you when installing the new ones?? I have heard of doing it though. I'll try it tomorrow thanks.. card is a 5900NU.

Nebor thanks:)

Are you using a legal copy of Far Cry?
Is it fully patched?
Have another other games suffered similar issues?
Have you done anything else at the same time as updating nVidia drivers?

Zebo, interesting, good that you got it resolved. Seems rather strange to me though, I would think that regardless of a particular patchlevel of any game, the video drivers themselves should at least generally work, no matter what. Unless the issue wasn't one of video drivers at all, but rather of the game being non-functional without that patch, but it's curious that the video-driver upgrade brought that out.

It's like computers in general, and games and video drivers sepecifically, are a never-ending sea of incompatibility and upgrades. Aren't those the issues that "standards" (like DirectX) were supposed to eliminate? Reminds me of the "bad old days" of making DOS bootdisks/multiple CONFIG.SYS sections, just to boot particular games.

Who knows right? This is why I make 2 ghost images while doing initial setups so I can always revert very quick... plus time saved.
First ghost is just my OS.
Second is all drivers, updates and basic apps like office, printers and all OS confiquration/folder options etc...
All my docs are on a D: drive

BTW folks I really regret not doing this FARCRY patching earlier...with 1.2 at least it's waaay more beautiful than 1.0. With either driver.

I just got my card and had installed drivers twice. First time Car Cry ran great. I installed over them with the 71.76's and It would hang everyonce in awhile in game for around 10 seconds. I uninstalled the drivers and ran driver cleaner and reinstalled the 71.76's and now it runs perfect. So I would say that even with Nvidia you should still run driver cleaner when updating.

Now I'm having another issue... you know the "night vison" enemies were white when turned on now they are purple. I need to go back to older driver.

They're supposed to be purple, that's how you can tell them appart from the terrain.
