Inspiron 8200 Memory Question.

I know the laptop comes with 2 SODIMM slots. Question is, does the memory have to be installed in pairs? I currently have 128MB in the laptop but I want to maybe up it to 256 or 384 depending on the config.

Ideally, I would like a 128 and a 256 stick in there but if thats not possible and only 128/128 then please tell me.
