A friend of mine has a Dell Inspiron 5000 series that he wants to add RAM to. Does anyone know if it will take PC133 Sodimms (as opposed to just PC100?)

Check this out.

Some PC133 will work, but only certain types. (The machine uses the 440BX chipset.) 512 MB DIMMs will NOT work.

Best would just be to buy the memory in store and test there, since some modules may not work. Or else just buy from Crucial.

Thanks for the link, I'll avoid the high density chips, but what should I look for to figure out if PC133 chips will work?

It's just so much cheaper if I buy online than "instore"

BX compatible memory is more expensive than generic PC133 these days. I'd just go Crucial PC100 in your shoes.
