regarding this thread here.

this thread has nothing to do with trolling or anything. yes, what he did was dumb, but i'm surprised by the number of people that think its ok for a cop to abuse his power to get back at someone. there's no excuses for that. it's unprofessional.

it was fun to read his story. but 2170 words is a bit much. i think that what the cops did was wrong but he was also dumb to give the pigs a hard time for no reason. I havent personally had any trouble with cops so i have no reason to be mad at them. I do think it is neat to stretch your rights to their limits though.

I've been abused by cops a few times. It sucks. I'm not sure if he is being truthful... but if he is, he should have at least done something funny to deserve the attention.

that's not being argued. yes, he's an asshat. my focus was on the people agreeing with the cop's actions.

IMO he brought it upon himself for being a dumbass.

I don't believe his story anyway, though.

If I was a Cop I would have arrested him for interfering and let him cool his heels with Bubba in the Holding Cell.

BTW, if he did what he said he did I cand understand why the Cops went after him because usually people woul;d have to be high to do something the incredibly stupid!

There's a difference between harrasing a cop when it's warranted (a cop commiting a crime and you stopping them, etc.) and being an asshat. That was a clear cut case of asshattery...though the police might have taken the revenge a little too far. I'm not a cop (nor do I know any) so I'm not entirely certain.

Cop once asked me my name when I was younger..

I said something along the lines of "Joe, uh, I mean Joseph"

Then he yelled real loud at me "NEVER LIE TO A POLICE OFFICER!!!!!!!!!!!"

Overreacting if you ask me..

There is no proof, he even said so. If one or more police are called to a location it's recorded by dispatch. Even if the police lied about the event there would have been a report made and that would have ben his proof.

Hence it's BS because there is no report.

Like i said, i highly doubt that happened. If it did, yes the cop took it way too far, even though Skywalker would have deserved it.

Regardless of whether the story is true or not, the guy has MAJOR issues that can't be resolved here. I *almost* feel sorry for him.

I don't feel sorry for him. He just makes me feel better about myself...because i'm NOT him. :D

You have to look at it from the cop's point of view. They take a lot of sh!t day in and day out from motorists, criminals, and asshats like skywalker66. Say it's 2 a.m. and some asshole kid gives you a snide remark. What he did was not illegal, but it's possible that in driving away he's trying to lead you somewhere dangerous (i.e. skywalker66 could have been a rabbit, as far as the cop might have known). As he sits in his driveway, what's to say there isn't a crime going on across town that he was trying to lead the cop away from?

So the officers search his car in order to possibly glean any evidence as to why he did what he did. Sure, they were a bit forceful, but skywalker66 gave the cop an unsolicited smartass remark late at night in the middle of a dark road. He deserved to be inconvenienced, yelled at, and possibly arrested depending on state laws that deal with interfering with a traffic stop.

He got what he wanted - a strong reaction from the cops. Now that he got some sort of reaction, he's crying about it. Methinks skywalker66 hates cops and tries to harass them because he wants to get a forceful reaction from them and then cry foul about it.

Sometimes you get what you wish for.

And, this kid calls himself a god-fearing Christian? What happened to loving your fellow man? I understand that Christians are allowed to not like people, but this police officer had never talked to him before and was simply harassed by skywalker66 out of NOWHERE. I'd like to see what Jesus would have done in that situation. I bet He would have kept driving.

Exactly, and even if it was true, there is a fact of life: The cops don't always play by the rules.
Go read Mill's recent run-in with the law.
Go read what the ACLU says about when you are stopped. There are legal limits to waht they can do, but they can't always follow them. But when you are stopped and questioned, whether you did anything wrong or not, being argumentative is just going to make it a lot worse for you. You have to play by the rules, even if they don't.

people in this thread seem to condone then cops actions and say the guy deserved what happened to him for being an asshat.
