The only thing you're a victim of are your own delusions. It's my free speech right to say whatever I want to about Trump. If you don't like that, tough shit.

Say whatever you want, just like I can. I don't have to give a shit, nor do you. But in the name of making this forum more useful, could we not turn just about every post into a fuck trump or fuck the GOP shitshow? I have yet to see you as well as others post a factual, inspirational quote from a US president.

Look what happens in this other thread when someone derails it and craps on Hillary:

Maybe start a new thread as some might interpret your post in this thread as thread crapping.

But, Hillary!

Lol.

That's fine. We can talk about that after we handle the topic at hand, Ok?
Do you have anything to contribute to the thread?

Really? A Buthillary?

Immediately it turns in to a bunch of "stay on topic" type posts. And then it gets back on topic! Fantastic! Here, it turned in to a trump sucks thread from the first reply, and then you have people trying to outdo each other with stupid Trump quotes.

Of course, now all I can expect is some sarcastic Trump quotes that don't meet the criteria of being both real and inspirational.

Let's say anti-Muslim bans. Do you think that banning immigration from several Muslim-dominant countries (except for non-Muslims) is discriminatory, or necessary for the sake of domestic security?

With that clause it is discriminatory by definition. I think the real answer is to have secure borders and to allow easier, legal immigration.

EDIT

Since we're on quotes, here is one I like that fits this scenario:

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

That sounds at least somewhat reasonable. My beef isn't with the concept of secure borders -- it's that Trump both wants inhumane, unrealistic approaches to securing the border (forcibly separating children, an easily circumvented wall) and wants to make immigration harder, particularly if you're non-white, non-Christian or both.

The problem, I suppose, is that this is at the very core of Trump's policies and who he is. Between this and his usual incompetence and corruption and it's just impossible to support virtually anything he does. If he does something right, it's practically by accident.

What was your take on the meeting, Or haven't you gotten your talking points yet ?

Even for a hollow shill like tajbot it's going to be difficult to justify. Given that trump has disregarded the advice of US intelligence agencies and the recent detailed indictments against GRU operatives. What the fuck is going on? No wonder trump likes authoritarian leaders so much because this is exactly how they work.

Where everyone has to believe what they say and if they don't they get locked up or murdered. Whether at home or abroad. Straight out of President Putin's playbook.

To his credit he did stop the separating of children through EO. Whether that will stand or not is yet to be seen.

I think it's better to let immigrants in easily. Let them be able to help the police without fear, pay taxes, etc. It's better than having them in the shadows.

I would like them to assimilate some however. Immigrants from 100 years ago did within reason, and new ones can as well. I think immigrants should learn at least basic English. You don't have to speak it at home or in your community, but English is (for now) the de facto national language. There are also some cultures that have diametrically opposed views to ours that need to assimilate as well. Those who think of women or gays or any group as second class citizens, for example.

Teddy Roosevelt: "Much has been given us, and much will rightfully be expected from us. We have duties to others and duties to ourselves; and we can shirk neither. We have become a great nation, forced by the fact of its greatness into relations with the other nations of the earth, and we must behave as be seen as a people with such responsibilities."

You're forgetting that the entire reason this thread was created was to shit on Trump. Not sure how you missed this. So we're all on topic here.

"Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes,
OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart
—you know, if you're a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if,
like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the
smartest people anywhere in the world—it's true!—but when you're a
conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that's
why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went
there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my
like credentials all the time, because we're a little disadvantaged—but
you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would
have been so easy, and it's not as important as these lives are (nuclear
is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the
power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of
what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?),
but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it
used to be three, now it's four—but when it was three and even now, I
would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because,
you know, they don't, they haven't figured that the women are smarter
right now than the men, so, you know, it's gonna take them about
another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us."

That is so fucking sad.
I knew someone "like" that in a work related capacity once... Mid tier leader position, he would talk like that, act with authority, look people in eyes, nod, and play with gestures to manage the scene(90% of communication is non verbal ... i read somewhere), and people would pick it up and continue the line of thought(that wasnt there) and he'd be like yea yea, exactly, precisely, - and that way he could bullshit himself through meetings and technical aspects that he had NO factual knowledge of what so ever. It was amazing to watch, I dubbed him the bullshit artist, I have never seen anything like that before or since... Super talented guy in his own way, and beyond the bs a nice guy too.
Its still just fucking weird.

Every large office has at least one of them, haha.

I thought I would add these additional quotes about Trump:

"The president must appreciate that Russia is not our ally. There is no moral equivalence between the United States and Russia, which remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals. The United States must be focused on holding Russia accountable and putting an end to its vile attacks on democracy." ~ Paul Ryan

"President Trump must clarify his statements in Helsinki on our intelligence system and Putin. It is the most serious mistake of his presidency and must be corrected—-immediately." ~ Newt Gingrich

"Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors.” It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???" ~ John O.Brennan

"We have been clear in our assessments of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and their ongoing, pervasive efforts to undermine our democracy, and we will continue to provide unvarnished and objective intelligence in support of our national security." ~Dan Coates

"I never thought I would see the day when our American president would stand on the stage with the Russian president and place blame on the United States for Russian aggression. This is shameful". ~Jeff Flake

Godspeed tajbot. Godspeed.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman" - Bill Clinton

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."
- Bill Clinton

Don't forget, useful idiot. His lie about getting a blow job got him impeached.

So what, he wasn't convicted. An impeachment is no more than an indictment.
Pretty much every Republican in the House and Senate voted to Impeach over a lie about getting a blowjob.

It's just a waiting game to see how they don't impeach the current President, because, well root root root for the hometeam.

I don't blindly support anyone, nor did I vote for him.

Never said he was persecuted. But damn, the echo chamber gets so old and boring. There's no shortage of Trump hate (not just here), so let's do something else instead of turn into a shit-a-thon.

Ok let’s keep it civil

Never said that. And in the reply I just posted I stated maybe I am a victim of confirmation bias. I don't think that to be the case though as there is Trump hate everywhere you look, it's the cool thing to do even if you know shit about politics.

Confirmation bias is an interesting topic. Maybe we could take a look and answer your question (arguably rhetorical) as to whether you are suffering from it.

While you state you never voted for him, (likely to present your self as unbiased), your posts indicate that you are conservative and may be prone to conservative rather than liberal biases.

To his credit he did stop the separating of children through EO. Whether that will stand or not is yet to be seen.

There are also some cultures that have diametrically opposed views to ours that need to assimilate as well. Those who think of women or gays or any group as second class citizens, for example.

The bolded is an excellent example of a comment that is very likely a product of confirmation bias.

We see ourselves as good people. For those we identify with we tend to see as fundamentally good people as well. When viewed through the lense of confirmation bias we will tend to accept positive actions and behaviors of those we identify with while ignoring or justifying the negative actions the perform.

The phrase “To his credit” means you find his action of “not separating parents and children” a positive action and morally worthy of praise.

So separating parents from children is a negative thing. So how did this negative action occur?

President Trumps DOJ, in order to meet his election pledge to reduce illegal immigration decided to change how illegal immigrants were handled. Illegally passing the border is a misdemeanor and there is no requirement to imprison someone for a misdemeanor.

Trumps DOJ decided to do this because locking up illegal immigrants would reduce the numbers coming here. Secondly a court ruling stated that children cannot be imprisoned with their parents. So the decision to imprison the parents forces the children to be separated. This is a benefit to Trump as
another disincentive to illegal immigration.

Cross the border illegally we’ll imprison you. Bring your kids and we’ll take them.

So if separating families was something he hadn’t implemented himself then ending it would have been something to praise. As it was he only ended it after a court ordered the families reunited and the public began screaming.

Consider that the
  • EO could have been done at any time
  • Trump could have decided to not imprison for illegal crossings
  • Trump and the GOP could have passed a law to keep families together and litigated it in court
Do you feel that he should be praised for ending a practice he himself implemented?

If not what made you say he should be praised? Likely confirmation bias.

The bolded sentence may have even been a throw away line but even that would be a an indication of confirmation bias.

What do you say?

I'd like to keep it civil. It will have to wait until tomorrow though as it's sleepy time for this cacodemon. I did want to throw out there that I really did not vote for him, nor did I vote for her. This was the first time I voted 3rd party, and some here don't like me because of that.

Conservative on some issues yes, but liberal on others. I've thought about posting a thread about (what should be) workers' rights. For example, I think non-compete clauses should be illegal. Requiring a "salary history" as well. I could go on.

I agree with you to a point about being instantly labeled a Trump supporter if you agree with anything he says or does. That goes a little overboard here at times. But in the context of this thread, I'm afraid the Trump criticisms are entirely on topic because the OP actually framed this as an anti-Trump comment. Please re-read the OP's post all the way to the last line.

That will teach someone who is not American and doesn't give a shit about American politics but does give a shit about a Russian stooge being in the whitehouse. Russian stooges don't stand for freedom and democracy.

How much longer can the US have a Russian operative as POTUS?

You never fail to disappoint tajbot....or fail for that matter.
