You all realize that once Miers' nomination is thrown out, Bush is just going to appoint some neocon to continue his agenda for the next 30 years.

Nope, I didn't forget Bork. He fails the "drooling partisan" test. Admittedly, I would definitely take Bork over Clarence "affirmative action" Thomas or Anton "originalist when I'm in the mood" Scalia.

Happens when NOW and the rest of the affirmative action supporters start screaming for a minority candidate, labelling a seat as "black only" or "female only". You get what you ask for.
Of course according to the left Thomas isn't a black man. Ebony doesn't even consider him "one of the 100 most influential blacks in the country". Hmm.

Dude, everybody knows Thomas is a black man. That's what irks black people the most. Bush41 essentially called him the best qualified black legal intellect to place on the Supreme Court. Most women are offended by the Miers nomination b/c just like Thomas they look at one another and say, "WTF . . . that's the BEST qualified person?!"
Really? How do you explain his omission from this list that I mentioned before? Or is the mayor of Memphis somehow more influential than a seat on the nation's highest court?
I guess being a SCOTUS judge isn't a career to look up to. /sarcasm
The problem for Bush41 is that he couldn't find a black ideologue with credentials so he chose a black ideologue. Bush should have just bit the minority bullet (since they weren't going to vote for him anyway) and nominated a MJ-abstaining version of Bork. Instead he sent a marginally qualified candidate to a lifetime appointment.
That didn't work the first time thanks to the liberal media's smear campaign of one of the greatest intellects in the country.
Bush43 has no excuse. There's even a black female ideologue he could have tried (Janice Rogers Brown). I think her politics sux but at least she's consistent . . . and unlike Thomas . . . you get the impression the woman has something to contribute.
I think she will be Ginsberg's replacement. One can only hope.

Can you name one opionon that he has writen how about an inflential one to the black community.
"While the romanticized ideal of universal public education resonates with the cognoscenti who oppose vouchers, poor urban families just want the best education for their children, who will certainly need it to function in our high-tech and advanced society," he wrote. "As Thomas Sowell noted 30 years ago: Most black people have faced too many grim, concrete problems to be romantics."

Just curious... does everything affect all black people the same?
And I think this case might be an answer to both of your questions.
