Inside Llewyn Davis

I don't understand the weird release schedule, some sort of Oscar Gambit?

The film Inside Llewyn Davis is coming out this month (December.)

A concert show called Another Time/Another Day, consisting of songs from this movie, performed by the folks who performed them in the movie, is airing on Showtime Dec. 13th.

Yeah, can't wait for it. Was really hoping it was going to play TIFF, but it did not.

I hear Oscar Isaac is amazing in this.

I think you mean 'Coen,' and I will pay to see pretty much anything they make 🙂. Oh Brother Where Art Thou was one of my all-time favorite movies, and I still love to listen to the soundtrack. This looks maybe a little like Oh Hipster Where Art Thou, but it'll be worth the price of admission.

Well I thought this was going to be about porn (yes, I read that as Llewelyn), yet I am not disappointed.

/shut up and take my money

I need to see this movie essentially just because it's the Cohen brothers. They don't make bad movies and they're all quite unique.

I understand not wanting to release it in the summer. But why wait til December? I can only guess it's an Oscar ploy. Doesn't bother me that much, I'll go see it as soon as I can either way.

Christmas movie season. Summer tends to be the time that the box office blockbusters and all of the garbage American action films are released for teenagers and the mentally retarded.

I am a huge Coen Bros fan and always excited to see their latest. The trailers don't make this look especially appealing to me but that doesn't mean it won't be great.

I seem to have enjoyed Intolerable Cruelty more than most--it had lukewarm reviews, the trailers were meh, and even worse audience reviews; but I thought it was great.

The only one that I didn't like--pretty much hated, really--was the Ladykillers. I thought Tom Hanks was overdrawn. The only good bit in the entire movie, was the early sequence with the First Person shot of the football player. That was just brilliant. 😀

I also loved lesser favorites like Barton Fink and Hudsucker Proxy.

I'm not sure what my favorite is: either Lebowski or Miller's Crossing, probably. I even put The Man Who Wasn't There up there, Fargo of course. NCFOM seems to be in its own category--it is very atypical of their work, but it is quite amazing.
