I don't think it's the source in this case, but rather the content. You're not likely to find much of a sympathetic audience on these forums for the Guantanamo detainees. Heck, most would probably say we should have just martyred them on the battlefield long ago.

I think that we are all safer with these guys detained as they are - even if there is no evidence that they have done anything wrong. The notion that people are innocent until proven guilty worked great before 9/11, but now it is obsolete. We must continue to take rights and freedom from others so that our rights and freedom are protected - even if taking their rights and freedom only makes us feel safer.

What a glorious new world we live in...

I generally agree with libertarians...so I don't very well qualify as a "communist". But its not hard to see who the forces against life and liberty are in this world, and its isn't the so-called "terrorists".

The use of haloperidol to subdue inmates, incarceration without charge (or anything resembling due process of law), and detention of 14-15yo are not defensible just b/c America is frightened.

There are detainees at Guantanamo who aren't from the battlefield. They are held without charges and incommunicado.
