Throw session drumming into the mix and you have my expertise (session / concert) over the past 16 years :awe:

Whoa! Nik's an expert! I'm waiting for Nik's youtube video of himself demonstrating how he's so much better than the guy in the OP & the high school kids. Well, in the meantime, I'll be planning my retirement.

It is the same. Trained ear or not. One drum is one drum. You need more than one drum or it's not interesting at all.

LOL.

I played snare since 5th grade, all the way through high school and some concert drumming in college, although I switched to tonal bass drum for marching. At any rate, I prefer the snare, but I haven't played in years and probably couldn't sustain a roll for more than about 30 seconds anymore without hearing pulsing.

Considering the audience he's playing for, DCI, that's pretty boringly standard stuff. It doesn't even sound interesting, it only looks interesting sorta. Back sticking, double sticking, traditional/match grip switching, tight rolls, rim play, blah blah blah. Yawn. You see better snare performances from high schoolers who have something to prove.
Sounds like some kinky innuendo right there...
