Insane Revodrive 3 240GB price ?

Hate to be too much of a downer, but they're not really worth much more than that. Plus, it's a refurb. Basically, you are paying for a PCI-E RAID controller, and two 120GB SSDs in RAID-0.

I would have much rather purchased a 240GB Vertex Plus R2 (new) for around the same price. More reliable, IMHO.

beginner99: How did your post get above mine, LOL first time ive ever seen this happen heh

I have no idea. All I can say it was like that immediately after i posted. I then thought it was some kind of display glitch but well, did not go away.

Probably an issue with time zones that makes the forum believe my post was made earlier.

The 480 is really fast. get about 1GB a sec transfers on them. I have two of them in my desktop 😀

The X2 480 has double the controllers, so is much like running a RAID 0 of 4 120GB SF drives. The linked one is a 2-controller 240GB. Today, you could get the speeds of a X2 with multiple fast SSDs in a RAID 0 on an Intel chipset (you couldn't get that fast in '10-11, when the Revodrive was a new thing, and it would have been dicey for big file transfers, w/o a controller card).

There's one with X2 240, which is going to be faster than the linked one. Even it's not all that great. The X2 480 and 960 were beasts, and really only even eclipsed by RAID 0s with recent Intel and LSI controllers, but there's a very good reason they didn't send out the smaller ones for review, much.

That's the only review I could find for the linked card. Numerous SATA SSDs today are faster. Notice how even then, there were 2 SATA SSDs that did better for all but simple file transfers, and even those tests are only ~10% faster than what good current single drives can do, largely on account of maxing out SATA 6GBps, and even at that time, a few single SSDs were close.

I received my Revodrive 3 240GB today, I do say that I'm impressed with what I got, The box was sealed and everything looked new No hint of it being Refurbished except a small sticker on the front.

I't came with the latest Firmware 1.6.2 and works very well so far 🙂
