Not sure if this has been brough up or posted before, but I just found out about this deal today. I know its limited to a certain demographic group, but it would suck for someone to pass this up. If you know anyone that can get this deal, try and ask them to buy it for you.

It applys for any student or persons enrolled in a college in the University of Texas system. This includes UT Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, Arlington, SouthWest Medical, and Houston Medical Center. Full list is here: http://www.utsystem.edu/admit.htm

They have full retail/standard edition of Microsoft XP Pro, Office XP pro, Frontpage, Office for Mac, Visual Studios, and a few other high end programming packages. These prices are crazy, $6.00 for XP Pro, $18.00 for Office XP. They come with cds, product codes, and keys. Only thing it doesnt include is manuals, its just the CD. The UT College system has a special licence agreement with Microsoft. I just picked mine up today, just filled out a form, and recieved the software.

Each campus's bookstore should have the form you need, and provide you with any information you need. They say quanities are limited to one copy of each per person, but 9 times out of 10, the guy behind the counter doesnt care. If you know anyone at one of these schools, get them to pick you up a copy.

It wouldnt hurt to check out other schools as well, up until now, I didnt know they offered things like this.

Same deal for Texas A&M Students, except cheaper. Only $15 for Office XP and $5 for Windows XP. Quite a deal. You can even order it online and have it delivered to your door free.

This has been rolled out at most major universities nationwide, to my knowledge. You can even download the disk images legally for free (with product codes/keys) from the school server, where available. My school has just about every MS product you could ever want available.

Keep in mind you aren't just paying that lower price. The rest of the price for that software is included in your tuition.

It was $5 per CD a few years ago when I was going to UT Arlington, but all you got was a CDR copy of the software that had a corporate type licensing key. So do you get your own cdkey now for $6?

the first batch of XP pro was on a corprate key, now though they give you a normal copy, not on cd-r made at ut, but the one's with a hologram. its still a sweet deal.

Isn't the first hit of crack usually free too?

(not that I consider Microsoft software to be addictive, but if they can get you "hooked"...)

Even cheaper at Purdue. Only $5 per title, except VS.net which is $10. We can also get the Macromedia suite for $99.

They will track you down. Microsoft set these campus agreements to help students out, and I know they nail people who purchase more than one. It may take months for them to find out, but they will.

It usually is...never thought of M$ as a drug dealer, but now that you mention it, they do have an eerie similarity.
