while I totally agree the price on that case is stupid, I think it's the damn coolest case I've ever seen

I doubt many of these will be sold; people who want a top of the line "gaming rig" for 5k would probably just order it pre-built from a third-party company like Falcon or something.

Or, most likely, they're not idiots and will build one themselves for half the price.

And to think back in late 1994 I paid almost that much for... (was $3800 shipped)

Enlight mid-tower case with a door to hide the drives and a cool smoked window for the speed LED & drive/power lights...
Pentium 90 (first chip had the defect)
Think it was a VIA board...?
16megs ram (2X8meg chips)
2meg PCI video card
4X Cdrom
1.44 floppy drive
AWE32 sound blaster
14.4 ISA modem
PCI IDE controller card
730meg WD HD
17" Mag monitor
mouse & keyboard
DOS & Windows 3.1 both on 3.5" floppies

Back then it was the cats meow and most of my buds had just 386`s & 486`s, I had got a small settlement so was determined to get into PC`s

It's a special edition BMW designed case. It's for irrational people who will pay $100 for a $10 dollar pair of shoes because Lebron's name is on them.

This is just put there to make the overpriced video cards seem cheaper, they are all amazingly in stock now, maybe they will get stuck with a bunch and have a big after xmas sale on them (I hope)

It seriously looks like some marketing genius went to each section and sorted by price descending, and picked the top item for each category.

True. You could get 2 5970s, a i7 920, $200 X58 board for <$2000. Add RAM, a case, PSU, and optical drives, you could still build a kick-ass gaming rig for at least a $1000 less than this package and it would be FASTER.

:)

It is more likely that someone with $5k to blow on something like this would get it pre-built than build it. If one wasn't an idiot, and had $5k to do, their time is probably worth more billing someone than wasting an hour putting together this thing.

If it were me & I had $5k to spend on another system, there's no way in hell anyone else is going near it. I'm building it myself & it would be a better system than what's represented here. My time is valuable & building another PC would be very good use of my time, as this is something I enjoy doing & not considered a chore.

a grand total of 10% discount. i bet newegg will make a killing off of the ones they sell since people will think "OMG I SAVED $500"

Anyone who buys this overpriced whatever you'd like to call it probably doesn't care about the $500+ savings.
