Hi. I'm on my way to configure a new PC, I want to know what you guys think of the hardware I've choosen so far. One thing of importance is the noise level. I want a silent PC :)

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
General use, games, video editing, HD video encoding/decoding etc

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
About 1600 dollars. Monitor not included.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
Sweden, where I live.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
No preference. But Intel is something I do think I want for my CPU :)

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
No. Going for all new parts.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
No.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Not really, perhaps.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
ASAP.

Ok, so I've choosen these components:

  • Case - Antec P182
    Power - Corsair CMPSU-650TXEU 650W
    RAM - Corsair XMS3 Twin3X DDR3 PC10600/1333MHz CL9 3x2GB
    Mainboard - Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4
Graphic - Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 Multi Core Cooling Dual-DVI 1GB
    CPU - Intel Core i7 920 2,66GHz Box
    HDD - 2pcs Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD502IJ 16MB 500GB
DVD driver - Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200A
    CPU cooler - Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler, s1366

For monitor I've choosen Benq E2200HD.

What do you guys think? Any feedback is more than welcome. Thanks.

Ha. Well, I have. Not here though. I heard you can get good input and help on Anandtech, so I thought why not post my setup and see what people think of it.

Welcome to the forums!

Where in Sweden? Just curious, I work for a company (BonaKemi) based in Malmo. I've been there several times in the last year, it's a nice town (love being able to walk everywhere and the town squares are cool).

Overall your build looks solid. A bit weak on the GPU for gaming though, I would step up to a 1GB 4870 or GTX 260 (55nm models are out now).

Thanks for you answer Denithor.

I live in a city called Täby, which is close to Stockholm. Malmö is nice, haven't been there in a while though.

I've made several changes to my build. I replaced the Gigabyte MB to one from Asus, which I've had good experiences with in the past. Also chosen a Radeon HD4850 GPU. The final draft looks like this:

Antec P182 (Svart) (Miditower-chassin)
Asus P6T Deluxe (Moderkort (Intel Socket 1366))
Corsair CMPSU-650TXEU 650W (Nätaggregat - ATX)
Corsair XMS3 Twin3X DDR3 PC10600/1333MHz CL9 3x2GB (DDR3-minnen)
Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 Multi Core Cooling Dual-DVI 1GB (Grafikkort (PCI-Express))
Intel Core i7 920 2,66GHz Box (CPU (Intel Socket 1366))
Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD753LJ 32MB 750GB (3,5 tums S-ATA-hårddiskar)
Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7200S (DVD-brännare för dator)
