Input method of Linux

I know it may be a dumb question to be asked here but is there anyone knows how to input chinese on Linux Red Hat 9 ( I have installed the language pack already).

Thx

here's a chinese linux howto

it's a bit dated, it's from 98-99 so I bet you could easily find more up to date information, plus they have chinese versions. I suppose those may be more up to date...don't know.

here is the linux chinese documentation project, which I can't read because I don't know chinese

I am guessing (pure guess) that you might have to get a chinese language keyboard. But then you may have to fool around with scancodes and stuff. If you get a usb one you ought to be able to have both a english and chinese keyboard hooked up and usable in X windows at the same time.

here is a something from turbo linux about SCIM that is a supposed imput method for some oriental languages

Kinda interesting subject, since almost a third of the worlds polulation use the various forms chinese, I would think that support would be fairly mature by now, so that's why I say you should find info that is fairly up to date, the technology moves at such a rapid pace that something from last year can be innacurate. Also there are various small-scale Linux distros that are developed specificly for various regions and languages... Lot's of time a university in a country will develope a linux with specific support for it's regional students. Also don't forget that Google has various setting you can use for different languages so do some searches and stuff and maybe you'll get lucker them me (I found all the links thru google, like I usually find all my info)

here is a quick list of a 186 linux distros, all of them supposedly maintained and active
