SAO PAULO, Brazil - Officials in northeastern Brazil say they confiscated the equivalent of more than $170,000 and two pistols from an imprisoned drug trafficker whose jail cell was equipped with a plasma TV set, a refrigerator and gym equipment.

Jose Francisco Leite, head of the state of Bahia's Prison Affairs Department, said the "posh prison life" Genilson Lins da Silva led came to an abrupt end on Monday when police raided his cell as part of a statewide crackdown on drug trafficking.

LMAO! So this guys IN PRISON has $170,000 IN CASH, 2 HANDGUNS and a fucking PLASMA TV??? WTF!! Hell, most of us in the free world don't have that laying around. The guards must be REALLY lax to allow this type of crap. Not to mention, some were probably paid off to allow it. This is in Brazil, but damn, is life in prison there THAT good? :laugh:

A friend of a friend even said that when his friend was locked up, they would order drugs and women like we order pizza. Hell, the prisoners would even leave for the weekend and comeback by Sunday night. Life was good. Why would they come back? Well, who wants to go to a real prison?

In many parts of the world, prison life is based on what you can afford, just like on the outside, with one caveat- you just can't leave.

The flipside of this guy's lifestyle is also true- if you can't afford to pay the bribes to let your friends on the outside help you, if you have any, you're going to be one miserable and hungry SOB...
