Inkjet Question: Refills or New Cartidges?

Quick question. I have an HP DeskJet. I think it's a 970Cse (the one you could get through the Estamps/Buy.com deal). Anyway, I'm trying to decide whether to replace the cartidges or go with one of these refill kits. What are your opinions/experiences, etc? What refill kits are recommended?

HP cartridges have the printheads built-in. If you just refill, you don't get new printheads. That's enuf reason for me to buy fresh cartridges.

I say refill for HP .. cuz their print carts are expensive due to the print head being built in..

I tried to help some guy out at Staples.. cuz The staples guy didn't know what the hell he was talking about ..

He was looking to buy new printhead for his printer.. when the print heads are built onto the ink carts themselves..

I told him that it was on the ink carts.. and he constantly disagrees.. and was acting like a total @$$hole .. that's the last time I try to help anyone..

I really wanted to pound his face in..


Nehow.. I use epson now. and replacement ink carts for color and black is about 10 bucks.. (Generic)

but i dont think it really matters..

try getting generic for it.. I dont think there would be much difference..

I say go with refills. $5 versus $40. Im on my third refill - no prob (HP 970 among others)

There are little plastic tits on the top of the cartridge you push in with a pencil and push down, then use
syringe. I would advise taking a non useable empty cartridge and sawing/breaking it open to see what
you would be doing. (Theres a yellowish foam sponge in there)

Note: once the cartridge is empty you must fill it immediately and use it - they dry out.

Refill untill the print head starts streaking. Then get a new one.

I won't refill my own, but do buy 'recycled.'

I read a post from someone at HP and they were commenting about diy refilling...."It cost the end user about $100 to get their HP copier fixed if they spring a leak and the ink gets into the mechanism.....Sure! Go ahead!"

Neither.

If you hang out on Hot Deals you will realize that its sometimes cheaper to buy a new printer when the ink runs out. Sometimes you can even make money on the deal if you are good with the rebates game.
