Have you not seen all the eye-witness accounts of cats being roadkill more often than dogs?

actually, i think cats are a lot smarter than dogs. they are much more self reliable (independent) and dont depend on humans to feed+groom/clean like dogs. they are definately a lot more athletic than most dogs.

i also think i read once that cats are hunters and carnivores that can capture their prey and dogs are scavengers.

I've laughed at a lot more of the replies in favor of cats than against. My cat now has your name on his hit list. He may be declawed in the front, but he will grab your a$$ and run all over you with his rear claws!

wow, rogue. i would have guessed that you, of anybody would have sided with dogs. since you're a police officer and many police use "police dogs" and such.

just because cat owners make posts that make you laugh, doesn't mean that dog owners are losing any arguments...

Dogs can be either, but unlike [domestic] cats they hunt in packs. Domestic dogs left on their own will naturally form packs. I grew up in NYC during then 70's, and you'ld commonly see dog packs roaming the streets in the middle of the day- this can be pretty scary, especially for the kids.

Once again, no matter how bad cat-scratch fever can be, I haven't once heard tale of a domestic/feral housecat killing a person.

I'm partial to both actually. Hell, my cat though is more like a dog than he is a cat. I call him a cog. He'll eat anything and is not finicky like cats. He comes when you call him. Hell, I've gotten him to roll over like a dog too. All in all, he's the coolest cat I've ever owned.

I love dogs too though. I work with Military Police K-9s all the time and those dogs are freaking awesome. I've never seen such a distinct personality difference between dogs until I worked with trained K-9s. These dogs are awesome. One handler's dog is scared of snakes. If you yell "SNAKE" around him, he will literally jump off the ground with all fours coming up simultaneously, into the handler's arms. Oh, and don't call him a pvssy, he hates that and will growl and bark at you for doing it.

I love both animals, I just have had some good laughs in this thread from cat owner's replies. Dog owners have been lackluster in defending their choice so far, that's all. I know it's not really a flame fest, but it started leaning toward one.

You must not read much. Dog attacks get more publicity than cat attacks. Besides, a dog will maul, bite, and shread it's victim. A cat will find other methods that are more effective and far more deadly and painful than dogs could ever dream about. Ever seen a dog trip up someone on the stairs in the middle of the night? Probubly not because the cat stands by and pretends like nothing happened and the paramedics assume that the dead person fell down on their own. 🙂

what if some day "household" cats are no longer the small cats we know of but TIGERS and jaguars and panthers. thatd be cool, id really want a tiger for a pet. they could protect your house really well, but youd have to tame it when its only a cub and train it.

thatd be cool. big cat. be a pain to clean up after him though :\.

Jay Leno talks about his cat named "Cheese" who he says waits at the top of the stairs and jumps on him in the middle of the night to scare the sh!t outta him. apparently the cat realized that Jay can't see in the dark while cats can...

so to solve this Jay bought night vision goggles, and the next time the cat tried to attack him, Jay could see in advance and moves out of the way as the cat leaps towards his face, and so the cat misses and goes flying down the stairs... i'm surprised nobody in his audience booed like a PETA activist or something, but i guess the cat had it coming
