screen for $299.

I ordered the 4 in on Friday and received it today. It is almost as small as my Panasonic l-50. It plays vcd 1.1,2.0 and svcds.
It plays mp3s and shows the directory and the full song name. I played a dvd and it looked great. The lithium battery seems
ok and is 3200mah. I took it in my car to try out the antishock for the mp3s and was happy to say that it did not skip.
As to who really made this player the packing label said Shinco 4in port. . So I am pretty certain that it was made by Shinco.
The model number of the 4in is 9510. To me these player are a great deal the 5.8 in is likely the same as the RCA portable that
is made by Shinco. The player have been sold out for a few days but they are allowing orders to be preorder for 8/27/03

I know these are also available B&M now, I went to my local Walmart in Brunswick, ME they've got the places on the shelves for them finally. I know these have been on the Walmart site forever now, also Apex has a dvd player for 199 as well that can be found on Walmart site.

Two questions -- you said the player didn't skip in the car. I was thinking of getting one of these to use while on a treadmill at the gym. Think it could handle that kind of vibration without skipping? It's gotta be bettter than trying to read. Also, how long will the battery pack last?

Thanks

I just got mine yesterday for the car rides with the kids. It is great! The screen is a bit small but after a few minutes of use, your eyes focus in and its no big deal.

It has been running for 4+ hours off a charge.

I comes with an auto adapter in the box too.

It Plays Video CD's

Can anyone verify if the 5.8" model is 16:9 widescreen? If so, that looks like the more interesting of the 2 units.

nice price, I think when they first had this it sold out in like 3 minutes! =)

Can you guys please tell me what it uses for the video and audio out? RCA cables, S-video, headphone jacks, etc. Thanks.

Got the 5.8 a couple days ago and it kept my three year old daughter occupied throughout a six hour car trip we had today. I'm very pleased with the quality; clear picture, good speakers, and lots of accessories. :)

Well worth $300.

Sounds like a great price for a tech toy. Wish it had been around when I had small ones to entertain on trips. Would have saved all the brain cells I lost singing John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith, playing license plate bingo, cow spotting, etc., etc, etc. Arghhh!

I have the 4" model. One disappointing thing on these units is the way the battery is utilized. It's an external 'stick' battery that slaps to the back, and connects through the normal power input jack. So if you really want to go 'portable', you add an extra stick battery to the back of the unit. I know *SOME* other units are this way, but I was disappointed when I saw it.

Otherwise, it works fine, and the 4" screen really isn't too bad. I tend to watch movies in pan & scan on it more often though - watching a true 2.35-1 movie on it would be brutal...

Still, a nice price for a decent little DVD player...

I have had one for about two months now. battery lasts for 4+ hours and it works great in the car. The bounce issue does not appear to be a problem. I have used it for DVD and VCDs with no problems except it did not like a homemade DVD burn.

Has anyone heard of Magnetix? They make a 7.8in screen dvd player/mp3/vcd/svcd region free for $299, I believe it's at B&M Best Buy for $399 this wk in their ad. Has many, if not more than, features and ass. of this Initial dvd player.
