i added some parallel IDE cables and a drive and a CD-RW, that i had laying around.
when i power it up i get a voice, "this computer has a dead CPU", or something like that.
since the motherboard is what is doing the talking, i kind of have the impression that the motherboard is OK.
then i look at these incredible deals, like the FX55 + 250 GB seagate, for $200, and think ... hmmm.
yet ANOTHER reason to spend money on computer stuff.
anyway, when an Asus A8V acts like i'm describing - is there a pretty good chance it's healthy ?
i'd like to fix it up on the cheap.
does it take DDR400 ? i had 2 x 256 Mushkin laying around, stuck those in.
i remember somebody saying something about a $20 Athlon 64 ?!
anyway, TIA from A8V owners for any tech help.
