Ingrown toenails.

I have one right now that just refuses to pop. The damn thing is really annoying. It's all red and pulsating...argh I just wanna take a knife and stab it so all the green gooey stuff can explode out at 100 psi and catch me in the eye causing an eye infection in which I will eventually lose that eye and have to wear an eyepatch.

go to the doc...get it cut off...tell them to kill the nail bed under it...worked great for mine...oh, get wider shoes (asics, new balance wides, etc.) the nail grows back, just wont be ingrown again...referring to the nail bed killer, of course 🙂

How would you describe the pain? I've never had one, and hope I never do, but I'm curious about how it feels.

One time I couldn't even walk on that foot. So yeah... why don't you try to get one then see how it feels?

Don't attempt to fix the problem yourself. I had a wart under my toe and I tried to uh...do not so pretty things to it...and now it's all weird and stuff.

I just clip the nail that is cutting into the skin.

Won't that make it worse?

Eh worked fine for me. Did it everytime I had one, so about 3 times. I still use same shoes and haven't gotten one in almost a year.

You gotta get those special bandages that pull the skin away from the toenail and let the toenail grow out past the skin. But it sounds like you're beyond that point, so I'd go to a doctor. If you let it get too bad... it could be bad.

Haha, thanks for the advice, but I think I'll stick with just questions and no experimentation.

I've had two ingrown toenails, it really sucks.Had to go to the doctor twice. It's been a week since the "operation". It's not even that big of a deal.

they suck big time. i was able to fix mine following home remedies, but god damn, you have never felt pain until you jamb your ingrown toenail toe into something hard like a table leg. motherfscker! :|

Ya, if you just cut the nail it will continue to grow back into your toe. You gotta go to a doctor and have them fix it right.

I had two on each big toe and they eventually had to cut the nail on the side and kill the nerve so the nail wouldnt grow on either side. Fixed it right up and you cant even tell.

Heh, about a year ago I jammed my big toe on some lawn equipment and most of the nail came off. For the longest time I had half a nail, and only recently has a new nail started to grow. Weird thing is, it looks like its twice as thick lol. Like both of the nails combined into one or something. Pretty weird I'd say.

When I was a kid, I had to have the same half of my big toenail cut off by a doctor at least 6 times :disgust: It kept growing back into the ingrown position, so I constantly had to get it removed, empty the yellow/green pus between operations, and EVENTUALLY it stopped growing back into an ingrowin position. Ugh.

ETA: Still wasn't as bad as my 6 year battle with never-ending ear infections.

Stop trying to cut them super short and it's usually not a problem. Don't wear tight shoes either... you aren't a chick so don't try and fool yourself that you need to wear a certain "size" shoe even if they don't fit.

I don't know why people torture themselves with this problem when it is so easy to avoid.
