LOL, there is some truth to this.

Ingrown hairs affect people with curly hair more. The more coarse and curly the hair, the more likely you are to suffer from ingrown hairs.

For people with straight hair, this is why a dull razor can cause them, and a sharp one reduce them. A dull razor leaves an uneven tipped hair that tends to curl more.

At any rate, for many people, including many blacks, trimming rather than shaving is the only answer.
