I dont know if I can fully answer your question corrently, but from what I can tell, once you transfer the money, you cannot touch is (access it, or pull it out) for 3-4 days. Then, once you do pull it out, it takes another 3-4 days. I think they have to "uninvest it". There are no branches, its all done online and on the phone, so they save money there and that trickles down to you.

If you're interested, do you mind using my name as a refferal? So I can get $25 to put towards the wedding? :D

ACH transactions (e.g. bank to bank money transfers) generally take a few days. Also, the transfers only occur during overnight processing.

Interesting thread. I am thinking about open an account or two with ING. I have about 5K in saving with my bank and it is pathetic of how much they paid in interest.

ING...here I come..LOL.

While you're at it, open a checking account with PresidentialBank.com and earn a nice 2.75% ;)

whao, 2.75? so the interest is compounded daily?

how come the rates for 1 yr CD is actually lower than the checking account one?

is that for real??? if so I gotta get on it. I generally keep 5K in my checking account

I have the account...

my ING account is definitely my favorite account. i joined for the free $25 bonus for opening my account. from there, i referred about 20 people at a bonus of $10 each ($200), plus with interest rates of close to 3%, i earned close to $230 my first year with only having deposited $1 into the account (no minimum). since then, i made that account my 1 y.o daughter's savings account, which grows tax-free since she's become the primary.
just recently, i used her money to purchase CD's using their CD-laddering form. it's awesome! the money just grows and grows at great rates currently at:

Term APY Interest Rate Effective Date
1 Year 2.50% 2.50% 08/07/04
2 Year 2.875% 2.875% 08/07/04
3 Year 3.35% 3.35% 08/07/04
4 Year 3.90% 3.90% 08/07/04
5 Year 4.00% 4.00% 08/07/04

you won't find rates like this anywhere else - i've looked. also, their are no fees and no minimums for the CDs, so you can buy 100 $10 CDs if you wanted to. and the only penalty for early withdrawal is 1/2 of all interest earned (ie. 2% gain on a 5-year CD) which is still higher than my credit union's savings account rate!

i've also dealt with customer service many many times and they've been nothing short of perfect. ING ROCKS!

by the way, if you want a free $25 signup bonus, email me at yoandy (at) gmail dot com.

ING is also my favorite account. i put in at least $100 every paycheck and all bonuses i get from work. i haven't withdrawn anything yet since it's my primary savings until i buy a house.
