Congress passed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure package Friday, approving a signature part of President Joe Biden's economic agenda. It will deliver $550 billion of new federal investments in America's infrastructure over five years, touching everything from bridges and roads to the nation's broadband, water and energy systems.

$550B in new spending. Awesome freaking compromise. At least we are competitive with, like, France and Germany .
Oh, I get it, we are saving up for the $20T in infrastructure for the coastal cities we will pointlessly try to save because we aren't spending enough to slow down global warming.
Yes, I'm angry.

What are you prepared to do, besides whine and pout?

Nice. First, what did you do? Or, are you pleased with this absurdly watered down bill for infrastructure development in the wealthiest nation on the planet?

I’ve voted for representatives who backed the bill the president initially submitted. I have no control over Manchin or Sinema.

So...vote, whine and pout. Real good.

Making a few lifestyle changes regarding your personal habits might do even more good.

Virtue signaling only goes so far.

Don't worry, Dems always allowed it to be called 1.2T so they will get punished for the already planned included spending too.

You didn't bother to answer my question - shocking. You just hang around an piss and moan about my behaviors rather than your own, nice diversion.
Virtue signalling - no. Being angry about our government's level of dysfunction relative to the funding projects critical to all Americans, yes.

I'll be over it in a couple of days anyway, but thanks for your oh so helpful commentary.

Changes to personal life may make you feel good, but they do basically nothing in terms of fixing problems like climate change. You never get enough buy in. The ozone issue didn't get fixed by individuals making personal changes in their habits. The issue was fixed by governments passing legislation banning the use of the products causing the problem.

But good job employing language conservatives adopted to ridicule people trying to make the world a better place.

Personal choice to not have more babies will do wonders for climate change and have required no government intervention.

But I agree, there at least need to be nudges.

That was never my intention; sorry if I gave that impression.

I'm sometimes a little short with folks who whine about our imperfect government not fixing all the world's problems in one fell swoop.

Small victories add up in the long term,; sometimes we need to recognize a win when it happens; not bitch and moan that it wasn't enough.

Personal choice to not have more babies works because this is what people (and women in particular) generally want for themselves right now, not because people are worried about climate change. That is just a side benefit. Advanced societies have lead to lower birth rates all over the world, even before climate change was on the radar of most nations. This is because in advanced societies, a large number of children becomes a financial liability, cuts down on a woman's opportunities for self development, and is largely controllable.

If people in general wanted to have more babies, a few individuals acting against their own self interest would not change the trend.

Don't get me wrong, things are way better than they would be compared to if we had Trump. But I don't think they are anywhere near good enough to prevent serious problems in the coming years, and this was likely our only shot at getting something done for the next decade. This isn't so much about blaming Democrats as blaming the American public. How did Democrats not beat Susan Collins. How did Sinema become such a piece of trash out of nowhere. Even Manchin, I understand he's in a state Trump won, but so is Tester, and he's not near the piece of shit Manchin is. Even West Virginia has huge support for the $3.5 trillion bill.

Unfortunately, part of the answer is we have a really shitty democracy compared to most of the developed world that allows a minority of the population to control things, and they probably won't pull their heads out of their asses until things are too far gone to fix. You have states like Idaho, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming that get hit worse and worse by climate change influenced drought and wildfires, but they just continue to double down on their stupid.

/Rant.
