I posted a related quote on another comment, 1st one: https://forums.anandtech.com/thread...mp-so-intensely.2497029/page-22#post-38690892

Generally the idea here is publish enough fake info to convince the audience it's all fake, ie "all sides equally bad", so that the battleground isn't fought over facts. Not hard to figure this strategy perfects aligns with the interests of party for whom that's a losing battle.

The perpetrator of the fake news in question should be publicly shamed for his contribution to the worst election cycle in history.

nd my wish is that I will be allowed to contribute my informed experience to a larger dialogue about how Americans approach the media, tough issues, and the manner in which we, collectively, will inform our decisions going forward,”

lol. what an ignorant, deplorable piece of shit.

Buzzfeed seems like a typical, trendy click bait oriented type of establishment. You know like the massive channels on Youtube with their hipster/trendy/cool accents, etc. LOL, CNN seems more credible (LOL) than them.

Infowars is a disinfo/psyop outlet. Their job is to create fear, hatred and lies. They post 5% truth to reel you in and then lie about 95% of the remainder. It is there to lead the sheep astray and it seems to be working by the amount of people who watch/listen/read them.

Alex Jones is a fraud and a liar/manipulator. So is Milo.

And the rest of the so-called alt-right crowd. They are controlled puppets that are leading their blind followers astray.

Infowars is a conspiracy theory site. The pope, I'm told, is Catholic.
Yup. In the era of click bait, "Infowars publishes actual fake news" is right up there with "House fire raises temperature inside house". It's newsworthy when CNN does it; it's business as usual when Infowars does it.

Error 404: 5% truth not found.

Re: Infowars is a conspiracy theory website.

That's not the bad part because we need to see the reality. If the reality is a so-called conspiracy then so be it. Reality is reality whether it's told by the conspiracy people or the mainstream order followers.

The thing with Infowars and many outlets like it is that they try to lure in the people who believe in non-mainstream news. These people don't automatically believe the lies the mainstream media puts out 24/7. These people are looking for alternatives in many cases. Unfortunately, people like Alex Jones and his Infowars lure these people in and then continue to lead them down the wrong path. These people unknowingly (or knowingly) are buying into the crap spewn by Infowars thinking just because Infowars is non-mainstream, they must be legit.

That is far from the truth.

Both sides are liars.

This is the most dangerous rhetoric in these times.
Yeah, let's support one side or another with our heads buried in the sand. That'll fix the crooked system.

So yeah, Infowars is fake. But that doesn't make the mainstream established media any better. We are where we are because they played their part in shaping the minds of Americans for decades. Infowars is very new and hasn't brainwashed as many sheep as the mainstream media has but they are also working on it - but from a different perspective.

But I don't believe that there are good guys in this system. Maybe you do.

When you claim both sides are the same, your head is already buried in the sand.

Both sides are crooked. There is no good side out there. It's just a lesser of two evils. I choose to not participate in that.
By claiming that "both sides do it" you are normalizing the smear and "fake news" effort that took place this election cycle in support of Donald Trump. And there is nothing normal about what happened with the news media, the fake websites, the fake facebook "news", with Russia lending a helping hand, with the amount of lies that were told and the level of divisiveness between the two parties.

It's been said and I'll repeat it, this is NOT normal. And we should do everything we can to recognize that fact.

That you think the sides are anything other than fact vs fiction is the telling part of your nonsense.

Things are more complex than boiling things down to two sides of anything though.

You say you don't believe their are good people in the system: what is that based on? What's gone wrong for you?

Fake news that was spewed by the alt-right crowd? Yeah of course. These people worked hand in hand with Trump.
Fake news that was spread like wildfire on the social media? Well, that's what those systems were designed for. LOL. They are there to keep the sheep entertained for the most part but once in a while, like elections and other things, to keep them purposefully uninformed and misled.

The whole system from top down is crooked. Your corporations, your government, your media - all working together to exploit the sheep (99% who don't even know they are being exploited.

By the way, a lot of this fake news that I see no one pointing out is the stuff that Assange is leaking. This guy's words are being taken literally by many because they happen to be convenient to them at the moment. Many of the alt-right operations spammed the internet with Pizzagate because this fake truther called Assange leaked something about Podesta and Planet Ping Pong. Do you guys recall how fast this crap spread? Millions of views.

So it's much deeper than what we're talking about there. We all have our little people who we like and don't like. What we need to see is that none of these people, whether they are Assange, Snowden, or whoever, is really out there for anyone's benefit. And we don't even know what the reality about Assange is. I mean, in what world a child sex ring only involves people of a certain political party? In this rotten world, of course. I mean, why only target Democrats?

Because it fits the narrative of the moment. Because it's convenient. Because that's what the sheep crave.

These guys are not heroes. There are no heroes.

We are given two sides. The people believe in two sides. This forum argues 24/7 about two sides.

Of course things are more complex than two sides. That's why in a fair and just system, we would not have Democrats vs Republicans. Or left vs right.

I don't believe there are good politicians. These people are doing it for themselves. Secondly, one cannot rise in this system without being a corrupt individual. And corruption is something that covers a lot of territory and just not things we focus on.
