Here. I have heard much discussions on whether or not this is genuine Samsung. I have found references to the fact that SVC Comp. does sell genuine Samsung, but once they inadvertently sent out some chip only Samsung and later corrected the mistake. It was blamed on their supplier. Can anyone confirm this? I am interested in this memory to put in my 1.5a/P4b266-c overclock. I ran the MFG. part number through a Samsung chip info decoder at the Samsung website... they are Samsung chips but I cannot tell if the PCB/die is from that page.

Also. would this HSF be worth trying?

I recieved my "samsung" pc2700 from SVCompucycle just last week. I recieved a third party PCB with Samsung chips on it. They told me that they had just stopped selling "original" samsung. I am now in the process of getting my money back, but they're being B****es. I recommend you bite the bullet and buy the REAL STUFF from newegg.

yup...confirmed that they don't sell samsung original pc2700 anymore...i called them about a month ago asking if the samsung chip they are selling are manufactured by samsung and they said no...it's third party...that's why it's cheaper...the fact is that they said samsung manufactured memory are really hard to get these days and they stop selling them completely...so don't buy from them...get from newegg...but if you don't care about 3rd party stuff...go ahead...it's cheap...but if you are planning on o/cing to ddr400...i would go with newegg or corsair xms...

great...thanks guys. I actually received an email reply from SVC stating that it was "high quality" third party PCB.

Is the Corsair XMS worth the extra $20 over the 148 Samsung at newegg? I ended up spending several hundred more than I expected so I am trying to get this absolutely correct. Thanks.

I also bought a retail Radeon 8500 128mb vid card....will this do well in the OC system?

just get the original samsung from newegg and get the thermaltake heat spreader with it...if you want to save some money...don't get the heatspeader...if you don't care about $20-$30...get teh corsair...they are both as good...some say samsung is better...but you have to get your own heatspeader...corsair comes with it

Thanks SupermanCk and others, since I have your attention, can you advise on a few other things......I will get $148 Samsung from newegg and a Thermal Take heat spreader (they actually have these at a local Microcenter). Does it make a difference between Arctic Silver II or III? how about HSF? and Power supply...a 400w or better I assume...most likely an Antec for me cause they are easy to get locally. Oh hell, sorry 'bout all the questions... I wiil check several different rig pages...and mimic. Any advice is always appreciated. Thanks doods.

I had intended to spend a couple of hundred dollars on an OC' mobo and cpu...I am over 400 and still going!!!!

Hey Chrisjor

Get samsung PC-2700 from newegg. Its cas2.5 but it runs cas2-2-2 great up to about 366Mhz! Some of the best ram out ... and as for the radeon 8500 128MB, GREAT choice! I love mine and the amount of features and low price .... its amazing. Ocing it ocs good and can handle pretty high agps. I had my agp at 39Mhz and it ram good. As for ocing check my sig ... its says it all :D

SSXeon5,

That is kinda weird, I have 6 rigs...the 1.6a will be number 7. The best rig I have, and the one I enjoy working on the most is my Asus Tusl2-C with P3 1ghz. I have no OC on that rig but it is my favorite!! I like it more than my Epox 8Kha+ with 1600+XP chip! I think the i815 chipset and the Cus and Tus series of Asus mobo's were pinnacle!!! I was originally looking for the Cusl2c "Black Pearl" ....they are still $100.00+!

Anyhow, I may be scope your specs for a possible OC on my Tusl2-C.

From what I have seen....-C must mean- clean & clear!!!
