I painted a wall of my apt white, but plan on getting a screen for it soon.

This is a much better price than I paid for it, and I can't sing it's praises enough.

Also, FWIW, it outputs VGA from my desktop at 1024x768 no problem.
very smart chip in these things.

Yep, very good pj.
Running output of my ATi 9600 pro at 1280 x 720, and X1 sees this as 720p,
with all HDTV from my DVB-S card and AccessDTV card coming in great.
Nothing under $1800 come close to this, and it beats most rear projection big screens that cost $5000+.

Just a reminder that these are it. No more.
X1 is out of stock, done shipping, and will make no more.

New model will be X2, but it is a business model, without the Faroudja chip, and sucks for Home Theatre.
The Home Theatre version replacement of the X1 will be the 4805, and will cost more than $1600.

Get this while you can!!!

Don't worry about specs.
I doubt anyone viewing 16:9 HDTV at 720p on my X1 would be able to tell it didn't do 16:9 720p natively.
It is THAT good.

Amen. After he saw my X1, my uncle aquired the highly rated Panasonic LCD, which model number escapes me now. I was fully expecting to hate my X1 after seeing his Panny, but I wasn't. The X1 is truely a bargain.

Don't be fooled by the "only 70"" size. This is actually a decent size for small to medium size rooms, yielding 81" 16:9, which is massive compared to $6000 50" plasma.

Is the matte white high contrast better for the X1 than the regular matte white screen? If I got it, I'd be using it mostly with the Zenith DVB318 DVD player and a component-to-VGA adapter.

Is that the type of screen that you can pull down from the box on top? If it slides up, that'd be awesome...the less permanent space taken up in mom's living room the better, lol.

Quick note on the InFocus 4805 (the X1 replacement if you will):

DVI with HDCP input

Uses the newest 480p DLP(TM) technology from Texas Instruments

Native 854x480 Pixels (meaning 16:9 aspect, not 4:3 like the X1)
