Info on the Holocaust...

Orsorum

Lifer
'K, I'm doing research for a bulletin board for my Res. Advisor class, and my topic is the Holocaust... 🙁 So, here's my question: does anyone have any information or links to information about the modern-day effects of the Holocaust - i.e. companies that benefitted from internment camp labor, immigration policy shifts during and after the Holocaust, reparations efforts, etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm using Google, too. I tend to use AT + Rallispec + google if I'm researching a topic.. even Google doesn't catch everything, and people (yes, even ATOT people) can have valuable insights, knowledge, or links.

My wife and I went to DC last year. We visited the Holocaust museum. Its a very detailed layout and I learned a lot. I bet they have a website that may help you out. Just a thought.

That's... a really good idea. I hadn't even thought about that. Thank you!!

As a matter of fact, I should have said that anyone who visits DC should make it a must see. I am not a very emotional person and I was deeply touched by the exhibits. Especially standing in the cattle car used to haul the victims.

I've been there a few times... I think I cried both times I went. It's amazing... it makes you glad for men like Roosevelt, Truman and Churchill... the millions of men that gave their lives to rid this earth of Hitler, Musselini, Rommel, and the horrors that they perpetrated.

<< The Library.

Do some queries on journal articles, especially.

*sigh* Looks like I'll spend tomorrow afternoon at Odegaard... *sigh*

Seriously. Too many people neglect the library these days.

The Internet is very convenient. And Google is an excellent search enging. There are some excellent information out there but also A LOT of misleading, crap info.

Also, there are tons of journal articles that never get published on the Web (in a public manner). It's worth checking those out and they tend to be at a much better quality. And many articles are accessible online these days with full text and pictures. Once you figure out, much of the research can be done at home, unless you plan to dig into the deepest, darkest secrets of your topic.

Unfortunately not, as the project is due Thursday.

Go do a search for German companies and reparations. Especially the large German ones. I think they got sued by Holocaust survivors.

They did... this was only a couple of years ago, too. There were supposedly a few big American companies that profited, too - IBM, GE, GM, etc.
