<< on top of my drive it says wd120 not wd120jj but model number is 120jj so i assume its 3 year warranty in linux it shows as 8meg buffer and trust me you can tell the difference i had 3.5 - 8 mbit copying rate on my other ata 100 drives this gave me 17-22mbit. It really is cool. >>
No, the majority of the 120 gig JB drives from dell that were at the 142 or 125 price are OEM NOT COVERED by WD, and have warranties from dell. If you want to check, just go to WD website and put in your serial number. You can confirm like the rest of us already have that the drive has NO warranty from WD. Model numbers have nothing to do with it. The person who got warranty for the other drive that came in a dell just got a WD drive that was NOT OEM. Again, there is a differance between OEM and BULK packaged drives. All of those people saying here that you get the full warranty have not checked thier serial numbers on the WD warranty check web page 🙂 This is differant than the previous deal that was the 120 gig drives for like $200 or something, many of those did indeed have warranties. Again, CHECK the WD webpage with YOUR serial number. There is NO other way to be sure, don't rely on hearsay or what differant customer service reps say (unless its a WD rep who checked your serial number).
BTW, this is discussed in great detail on the other dell threads which actually talk about the hot deal itself. This thread is not a hot deal and really doesn't belong here and should be locked.
