SETI@home for BOINC:

OS: all (compile yourself if needed.)
CPU: all 32-bit-or better
Ram: 32 MB (wu-specific)
HDD: 500 KB (wu-specific)
Internet: any
Proxy server/firewall: uses standard http-port80, can use socks-proxy, http-proxy, password-protected http currently not working but should soon be fixed...
gui; currently only windows, separate gui for all will follow.
cli; all (compile yourself if needed)
service-install; built-in, but still a little buggy
caching; dynamically min/max # cache-days, based on individual machines crunching-habits, max based on wu-specific deadline that currently is 14 days.
crunch-time, roughly the same as seti-v3.08 ;)
overclock-stability; excellent - anyone that's overclocked too much and therefore only produces garbage will not get any credit for this garbage. :)

CyGoR,
Thank you for you time and efforts...This is a big help.

I am hoping members from each team will provide the same so that
it will allow our new users to see at a glance what project they can do (hardware requirments) as well who needs help (member numbers, team rank) etc

So a :p:beer: to everyone for your time and trouble

mike

Since predictor@home uses BOINC, most of the info is the same as in the BOINC-line... and some of this info really belongs under seti-BOINC, since BOINC in most cases really haven't any noticeable memory or hd-requirements. ;)

Anyway, BOINC also has windows-cli, but not all manages seeing boinc_cli.exe in their directory after install.

Predictor@home has 50 MB memory-requirement & 50 or 150 MB disk (wu-dependent).

You can download BOINC for linux/x86, mac os x, sparc/solaris & windows/x86. All 4 includes cli, while windows also contains gui. For other OS you must currently compile yourself.

Installed BOINC takes 2 MB + a little for log-files & info on current work so atleast under 3 MB, and the gui uses around 5 MB memory.

WU on the other hand always has a limit of how much memory they needs & disk-requirements. For seti these are 32 MB memory & 500 KB disk. The memory-requirement isn't additive, so you don't need more memory if you wants to cache 10 wu, but BOINC refuses to download 10 wu if you haven't got 5 MB free, and any limits of how much to leave free. Of course on dual you must have 64 MB to run 2 wu. ;)

For predictor@home these limits is 50 MB & 50 or 150 MB disk. (2 types of wu).
BTW, predictor@home has not links to download sparc/solaris, so most likely this isn't available. Also, I've not seen any link to source for predictor@home, so most likely you can't compile this yourself...

Don't know how the BOINC-version of Climateprediction.net will be...

Oh thank you. I see now, sorry been a long week and that info made my day:p

So a  For all your efforts as well and a few more on ice :beer::beer::beer::beer: for later

This week has been a busier than usual week so I haven't had the time to put into this I normally would have.It might be this way for a while to come, but I intend to get everything done still.

I have been scouring the net on each project and have sent emails to the projects to try to get better answers on the ones like eon that provide very little info on requirements.

If there is anything you feel is wrong or needed please pm or post it ...thank you

mike
