The AMD site indicates there are two versions of Athon XP Mobile 3000+ chips in their processor pricing section but makes no techical reference to the specification for these two mobile processors anywhere else on their site that I can see. They refer to one as being for use in Desktop Replacement units and the other in notebooks. Prices for the two are different. Does anyone know where I might find technical info or reviews of these 3000+ chips??

Thanks in advance for your trouble!!!!

If you bought one of these chips from a retailer like Newegg or some such place, chances are that it's a DTR chip. I can't tell you for sure what the difference is between the two, but it might have something to do with the notebook versions being lower voltage. If you find any other info on these(especially the DTR) chips, let me know as I'm currently trying to get a "mobile" 3000 working, but the chip doesn't seem to want to let me raise the FSB.

I've tried doing a google search and I can't seem to find any info on this chip besides reviews that don't seem to help a whole lot. I've gone to forums at other sites(even though Anandtech is my fav) and I haven't found anyone who has bought this chip and experimented with it. Maybe it's still too new??

Same here Pohemi420. Can't found squat for decent info.

My only thought ATM is to get the stepping code off the chip and go HERE. By refering to the chart at the bottom, you could found out the stock voltage, FSB, etc.

Well, I've installed mobo monitor, cpu-z, and clock gen. The cpu still fails after raising the FSB from 133 to only 140. I have raised the Vcore to try to increase stability and it makes no difference. I have been able to raise the FSB on my Athlon XP 2700+ from 166 to 185 by raising the Vcore by only .1 without any problems, so it makes me think that it may just be this particular processor.

OK...got my RMA replacement chip about a week ago. It's OC'able to about the same speed as a typical 2400-2600 mobile chip. So, in other words: if you're thinking about buying this chip to OC, forget it. Save yourself some money and get a 35 or 45W one.
