A friend of mine just got Infinity 652i 6" speakers to replace the back two speakers for his car. He stuck with crappy JVC ones for the front because the Infinities were too deep to fit in the door. Anyway, I notice that while the treble sounds pretty good, the bass is crap. The description for the speakers on the website says something like "Greater bass output than competing models" but I remember his old Rockford Fosgates sounded better for this. They were too rumbly or something though, and he likes clean bass. Well, now they don't rumble but now he has no bass at all. If you turn up the bass on the head unit, the speakers just crap out even though they're 60/180 watt and his head unit is probably 22/50 watt.

As a further note of comparison, which of these 6x9 speakers would you get? Both are 3-way, both are almost the same price, but one's made by Infinity and the other by Rockford Fosgate.

Infinity 692.3i 6x9 3-way
Rockford Fosgate HPC2369 6x9 3-way

Put more power on the Infinitys with a separate amp. The power coming out of a head unit is sh!tty. Speakers dont blow from to much power they blow from not enough power being turned up really high.

Out of those 2, infinity, and i agree with vital, let the subs handle the low end, i have Polk dx series speakers in the front and back, and just turn the bass all the way down, then turn up the "non-fading volume" on my clarion deck, which ups the level to my subs, speakers are plenty loud, subs take care of the bass :)

Infinity in a second. Cleaner, better sound. You want loud but ugly sound, sure, go with the rocford...but something that actually sounds good? Infinities all the way.

go with the infinities. And power it with a real amp. Or get a small jl w-0 8" sub in an enclosed box for some extra bass. yes it is clean sounding to :)

I'll chime in with everyone else: Infinity.

I had a pair of Rockford Fosgate components. They were overpriced pieces of crap. If I had known then what I know now, there is no way I would have ever purchased the components.

The best pair of 6x9's I ever owned were Boston Acoustics. If you're not set on one or the other you should listen to the Boston's.

I have had both Infinity and Rockford fostage 6 by 9s

The fosgates got power from an aiwa head unit (i believe 18watt RMS each) and they sounded pretty good, a bit weak on the treble and midrange

My current car is (for now) using stock audio, which is infinty speakers and head unit (chrysler 300m)

Im not sure of the RMS power, but it sounds louder than my old AIWA head, the bass is smoother, and the overall sound of the 6 by 9s is much richer.

now Fosgate makes some decent Amps and subs, but even my stock infinity speakers sound better than my old fostage 6x9 (and they are probably the lowwest end infinities too)
