Infiniti's marketing of the FM platform is a load of crap.

Not to take anything away from the the platform, it is great and all, but they make it like they are the only ones doing it.

But in reality, most sporty RWD cars do have the engine resting behind the front axle (more so than the FM even).

Look at the F-body, the small (physically) V8 is wayyy behind the front axle (although that has to do more with the marvel design of the engine rather than the chassis). Same goes for the S2000 and Miata.

Umm, the only ones really making a big deal about the "midship" location of the engine are the mag rags AFAICT

I wouldn't say they really "market" it... I mean you won't see it advertised in any commercials.

well thats what I mean. I assumed Infiniti *makes* them say it (in the sense that when they send in their promo sheet, they talk about the FM-platofmr).

Plus the website for those cars tout it as well.
