Not to take anything away from the the platform, it is great and all, but they make it like they are the only ones doing it.
But in reality, most sporty RWD cars do have the engine resting behind the front axle (more so than the FM even).
Look at the F-body, the small (physically) V8 is wayyy behind the front axle (although that has to do more with the marvel design of the engine rather than the chassis). Same goes for the S2000 and Miata.
