Infiniti M35/M45 Pricing.

http://www.nissannews.com/infi...g/20050110072121.shtml
DETROIT (Jan. 10, 2005) - Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc., today announced pricing on the all-new 2006 Infiniti M performance luxury sedans during a press conference at the North American International Auto Show. The 2006 Infiniti M35 sedan, with 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and 5-speed automatic transmission, features a starting Manufacturer?s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) of $39,900. The Infiniti M45 sedan, with a 335-horsepower 4.5-liter V8 and 5-speed automatic transmission is priced at a MSRP of $46,750.

The new Infiniti M will be available for display and test drives beginning in early February at Infiniti dealers nationwide and will be available for customer delivery in late February.

Other available models include the M35 Sport, with a MSRP of $42,700; the M35 AWD with Infiniti?s intelligent all-wheel drive system, which is priced at a MSRP of $42,400; and the M45 Sport, with a MSRP of $49,550.

All Infiniti M models come equipped with many standard features, including leather-appointed seats and trim, power sliding glass sunroof, Voice Recognition, BluetoothÒ wireless technology, Intelligent Key with push-button ignition, Infiniti Vehicle Information System with 7-inch LCD screen, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Advanced Air Bag System (AABS).

Hmm. Looks like RL got owned in price and performance by a longshot.

yeah...I have a feeling this is going to make Acura reduce their prices somewhat.

The AWD system in the RL is quite impressive...but not novel enough to warrant the paying more than for the Infiniti.

One thing that will be interesting is how expensive the top of the line M45 is with all the options. One of the really nice things about the Acuras is that they do not offer options (or very few in the case of the TSX/TL). You get the top of the line for the price they list. I wonder if the price of the Infinitis goes up 5+ grand if you start getting decent options (although the press release does seem to say that many of the options are standard).

Yup, and all models come with Leather. Considering that the M35 looks better than the RL, is faster, AND is $10,000 cheaper, Acura got OWNED 😉 Hell, even if you want to add in AWD, the difference is still $7,000.

I think it might go up by 5k easily. You have 2k for a premium package, 2k for a navi, and then if you get like any of the dealer options like chromed wheels, or some sort of aero kit, I am sure it can easily add up to about 1k. Plus, if its anything like right now, there might be a technology package or something which might include intelligent cruis control. I guess I can easily see a M45 sport fully loaded at 54k.

But anyway - the RL just got owned.

<-- Does the happy dance being a nissan fanboi and a G35 driver

Yup, you can get the M35x optioned out with NAV and be a little bit cheaper than the RL, but faster and better looking.
Or totally blow the RL away with an M45 for the same price of an RL.

Now if only Infiniti would work on their advertising *ahem* all time 0/100 RWD, capable 50/50 FWD/RWD *ahem* the same way Acura tried to pimp out SH-AWD.

LOL - if you can't beat 'em, steal their model name.

Haha. I am sure we'll see a M45 vs. 545i comparison. Look forward to that.

As for the "M" name, I'd love to see the new M5 leave this pretender in the dust!

The extra 165hp coming from a Formula-One-Inspired V10, combined with a 7-speed SMG transmission makes that $30K seem like a bargain!!!

Yes, the 5-series still looks like ass tho.

Manual gear box for the US!!!!!

Realizing that he was in a hurry I complimented him and BMW M for doing a great job with the M5 and I told him I would only ask him one question: why no manual gearbox? Mr Bruhnkes answer was that the first priority was to change gears fast, and the SMGIII will surpass any manual gearshifts. He also said that you can handle the SMGIII as a manual, shifting from the console.

Then I explained that some customers still want a clutch and complete control over it in a traditional way. But Mr Bruhnke told me that shifting optimally at 8300 rpms with manual gearbox will not always be 100% correct, you have the comfort with the SMGIII to shift with both hands on the wheel, you can use it in automatic mode and also the M5 would have had less power if a manual was offered. A manual would not have been impossible, everything is possible but for a cost. And that cost would not have made sense since the car was developed from the ground and up to have the markets best sequential gearbox, as close as Formula One without having to change it every week as the F1-cars do.

That's strange.
Why would they charge you extra for the Rosewood Trim when it's standard on all non-Sport models. It's ugly too.
And aluminum is not available on non-Sport models as well

Well, is it REALLY Brazilian Rosewood?? I thought that most companies stopped using Brazilian Rosewood because of it's rarity and the fact that you're wiping out rainforest to get it. So an extra 600 to destroy the rainforest. Cool. Can I get it with some baby seal skin upholstered seats? 😀😉

I actually had a Acura fanatic say to me that voice controlled navi is an "essential" feature trying to evangelize me about how awesome Honda technology is...

They're not offering one initially AFAIK. There is a chance it will show up at some point particularly since the M35's drivetrain is similar to that of the G35, but the manual doesn't even sell that well on the G so it would REALLY be a low-volume option for the M.

Might have to go the A4 route then.
