Infiniti Alarm FTL

No Lifer
If anyone owns an Infiniti with factory alarm, it's more just a keyless entry device. You can break a window and open the door without tripping it.

Just an FYI, the salesman insisted it was more full-featured than it was.

My sister in law's FX just got popped.

That is false. Yes you can break the window and the alarm will NOT go off. But as long as it is armed it will go off when the door is opened and the door switch is extended. I'ved owned 3 nissan/2 infiniti's and that is how they work.

Same with our Nissans.

Does pushing the unlock button in the car disable the alarm?

If so, then you can break a window and open the door...

On the FX they just bought I think that's what happens, as soon as the door is unlocked the alarm is not armed.

It's a brand new SUV, perhaps defective possibly. This just happened last night.

My new Jeep has a similar alarm system. I am going to roll down the window and see if I can get in by pushing the unlock button.

Nope, can't break the window in my Jeep and get in that way. The unlock button in the car does not work if the alarm is armed.

Unlocking it manually does not disarm the alarm.

Using the backup key also does not disarm the alarm.

Only the unlock button on the FOBIK disarms the alarm.

interior motion detection ftw... except when you forget and your dog is locked in there. /doh.

At least you get an alarm. BMW doesn't provide alarms in their 3 series. You have to buy it as an option now. Their excuse is it doesn't deter theft. Such BS!

Do you have remote lock/unlocking with the audible chirp though?

The BMW alarm squeal is quite weak anyway.

Personally I'd never trust a factory installed alarm...I took the time to gut my interior and dash to install mine.

Yes. It chirps.

I got a Feb 09 3 series so I got in right before they completely eliminated the wiring for an alarm. The March 09 3s don't have wiring for them so you can't install it yourself.

Hmm, I doubt it. Even my Accord will sound the alarm if you set it while someone is inside and then they try to unlock their door and get out.

More likely is that the thief broke the window, reached in to pop the hood, then disconnected the battery before opening the door.

Opening the hood will set the alarm in my Jeep off, so that's not going to work...

Our old Bronco is awesome. It's alarm goes off if you jump in the seat too hard 😱

Yeah even my 1995 Rodeo alarm had an impact sensor... you push against the body and it went off - perfect sensitivity. They don't make them like they used to... probably because all the fart can Hondas set the more sensitive ones off.

Tell me about it 🙁 When I was a kid I was running around the truck playing "keep-away" with my brother. I look behind to see where he is and turn around just in time to ram head-first into the driver's side mirror.

Not only is blood gushing from my face but the truck alarm starts blaring in my ear while I'm laying on the ground wondering wtf just happened.

reading too far into this.

window broken...door open...alarm did not go off.

they took just GPS...she saw the broken window had a couple dudes in an suv at the far end of the parking lot. Went back inside to get her Taurus .357 and then walked towards them...they drove off. in that private parking lot that recently had customers, during the past 3 weeks there has been 20 break ins.

Well, I guess that's why G37 has "Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor" as an option.

BMW 3 series doesn't even have alarm system installed. It's just remote lock/unlock, and it makes NO SOUND AT ALL (not even when the door is locked/unlocked). $ 500 factory alarm adds chirp and motion sensor, but without it, zero sound. You lock the door, no sound. You unlock the door, no sound. Someone breaks window, no sound. Someone breaks window and opens door, no sound.

And according to Doggiedog, even that $ 500 option is now gone. Another reason for me to get Infiniti to replace my E90.

That is not true. If the alarm is armed and you trip the door open sensor it will go off. Plus FX should have an immobilizer also.

My audi has an interior pressure sensor also, so if you throw a brick though the window it will go off.

I did not know my Jeep even had an alarm at all until I had owned it for a few months.

I got a ride home with my brother one night and as we parked next to my jeep I saw a red dot slowly flashing on the intrument panel and wondered what the heck it was. 😀

the hells zat light...?

Was wondering what's up with the M3 my neighbor has... no sounds at all. I know you can turn it off if you have it but it seems he has exactly the situation you describe. That's why I asked about the chirp earlier.

If the clown nose blinks, then he has an alarm.

My car does chirp when I lock but I have no alarm.....don't tell anyone where I live.
