That is false. Yes you can break the window and the alarm will NOT go off. But as long as it is armed it will go off when the door is opened and the door switch is extended. I'ved owned 3 nissan/2 infiniti's and that is how they work.

Does pushing the unlock button in the car disable the alarm?
If so, then you can break a window and open the door...

At least you get an alarm. BMW doesn't provide alarms in their 3 series. You have to buy it as an option now. Their excuse is it doesn't deter theft. Such BS!

Do you have remote lock/unlocking with the audible chirp though?
The BMW alarm squeal is quite weak anyway.

On the FX they just bought I think that's what happens, as soon as the door is unlocked the alarm is not armed.
It's a brand new SUV, perhaps defective possibly. This just happened last night.
More likely is that the thief broke the window, reached in to pop the hood, then disconnected the battery before opening the door.

Yeah even my 1995 Rodeo alarm had an impact sensor... you push against the body and it went off - perfect sensitivity. They don't make them like they used to... probably because all the fart can Hondas set the more sensitive ones off.

Hmm, I doubt it. Even my Accord will sound the alarm if you set it while someone is inside and then they try to unlock their door and get out.

If anyone owns an Infiniti with factory alarm, it's more just a keyless entry device. You can break a window and open the door without tripping it.
Just an FYI, the salesman insisted it was more full-featured than it was.
My sister in law's FX just got popped.

BMW 3 series doesn't even have alarm system installed. It's just remote lock/unlock, and it makes NO SOUND AT ALL (not even when the door is locked/unlocked). $ 500 factory alarm adds chirp and motion sensor, but without it, zero sound. You lock the door, no sound. You unlock the door, no sound. Someone breaks window, no sound. Someone breaks window and opens door, no sound.

Was wondering what's up with the M3 my neighbor has... no sounds at all. I know you can turn it off if you have it but it seems he has exactly the situation you describe. That's why I asked about the chirp earlier.
