The first one was a great game and explains how he gets his powers so I would say do it first.

They're both good games, but the gameplay is VERY similar. I lost interest in the 2nd and still need to finish it.

I don't think you lose anything by doing #1 and skipping #2 if you don't feel like playing nearly the same game again. There are some better mechanics in #2, but not a huge deal.

Also, if you complete #1, you should get the option to import your character's powers into #2.

Yup you import stuff into part two which is cool. I'd definitely play one then two.

I enjoyed both 1 and 2. Compare to Assassin's Creed, where the quality jump from AC to AC2 is large enough that I can't really recommend AC, even though I liked it okay.

I finished my Hero/Blue playthrough, but I stopped early in Infamous/Red. I took a long break between 1 and 2, but I tried to do my second playthrough back-to-back.

Yup you import stuff into part two which is cool. I'd definitely play one then two.

The import bonuses weren't spectacular. Extra energy cores were nice, but XP and karma are easily farmed.

Infamous 1 suffers from real bad aliasing. The second one is much better in that respect.

As for karma whoring in 2, they nerfed the ability to use the user created maps to get cheap karma. Was going to use it to do the villian ending mission; but the karma cap made it too long. Just watched it on youtube instead.

I got Infamous 1 after the whole PSN outage thing in 2010. It was fun enough, especially for a game I got for free, but not good enough to compel me to get the 2nd game. With so many good games out there, I'd rather play something that I'm going to LOVE over something that's just so-so.
