Is i7 the way to go these days? What MB is good but not over kill expensive? Stability is what I really want over all the other features.

I will never use a dual graphics solution. Also on MB's using usb kb/ms are they still detected during legacy OS installs (winXP).

Look at newegg for less expensive motherboards...the asrock board has great reviews, also the foxconn board is a good one and has great rebates too,the gigabyte board is also a fine choise and as far as probubly the best is the asus ...most of these boards vary in price from 159.00 to like 209.00...
you really have to look at each one and choose which layout is best for you..all these boards perform basically the same ...

Ill agree the open box specials on newegg are fine..ive used them and never had a problem with one not working...i swear some of these board were somebody flashing bios and screwing it up so the board is dead..asus or what ever company built the board puts a new bios chip in and you are good to go...most of the boards ive recieved have had the latest bios installed..ive bought in the neighborhood of 15-20 of these boards over the years and the only real thing that is a hassel sometimes is you have to contact the manufacturer to get a backplate...asus has always just sent me one free, msi charged me 5 bucks, but for the money you save its worth the hassel...
That asrock board for 114.00 is a great deal and the reviews are excellant for that board...I know one friend of mine at smart guys computers that has his 920 at 4.2 stable and its been running for 6 months or so at that speed.....the board is the asrock board that new egg has open box for 114.00.......................you are not going to find a x58 board much cheaper than that....

I've had a couple of open boxed mobos arrive DOA but newegg took care of it right away so i still buy them all the time without hesitation. Just always assume you are getting the bare item only and if anything extra arrives, bonus!

newegg +1

Sounds to me like P55 is better suited for your needs.

You don't have to spend a lot for a solid mobo, & you can still get 8-threads via the s1156 Xeons or i7s for it if 4 threads isn't enough.
