Anyone know of an Inexpensive DVD Player with S-Video Input? I'd like to be able to jack my PC into it to use my TV (doesn't have S-video input) as a minitor.

I doubt you will find a DVD player with an S-Video input...A DVD RECORDER or a VHS/DVD combo unit maybe

You can buy S-Video to RCA cables. They're not terribly expensive.

true...although for the most part(except for video) computers look like ass on TV's when not in hi-def

hummm, this is all good information. So would I be better off using a monitor as a TV then?

I have a DVD recorder-player - inexpensive. The Liteon LVW-50005. Has S video input. I use it all the time with my bedroom TV. Got it at Best Buy for around $100.

I think everyone is confused on the differance between inputs and outputs. Even the worst low-end $39.99 cheapie DVD players at Wal-Mart have S-Video output. I saw them there yesterday. I haven't seen any DVD players with S-Video input. By the way, why would you run the signal from your computer, through the DVD player, then to the TV? Why not just from the computer to the TV? I mean what exactly are you trying to do? :p

The Liteon I was referencing has BOTH S video input and output. One each. The input is used to burn a DVD from another viseo source such as a VCR. You are getting things mixed up by trying to base it on COMPUTERS. There is no need for a computer in this process.

I may be mistaken, but I think the OP is looking for an intermediary between PC and TV. I think that this type of player would work.

No you are confused because he is asking for player not a recorder. We have all been saying that a recorder will have this input...a player will not.

hummmm, yeah, I wouldn't be playing games or anything on this PC. I've just got it in my living room to play/store music right now. And I don't feel like having my old 19' TV without S-Video Input and my junky CRT monitor taking up space.

I'm open to any solution since my current TV Dvd Player is broken. I could get a DVD player, or replace my TV, or perhaps get an inexpensive LCD monitor as long as it has the same viewing space as my 19' TV. In the end I just want 1 monitor/tv instead of 2.

I'm confused, why wouldn't you just take the S-Video out from your PC and plug it into your TV?

Computer monitors are much higher resolution than TVs. Don't even try to compute on a TV unless you have a high def TV.

Ok, so I'm guessing that means that if I purchased a 19' monitor, it would perform as well as a 19' TV for watching movies etc.... ?

It really doesn't matter to me how well my PC looks on a TV or monitor, since I'm really just using it to store and play music.

Thanks for the help guys!
