hey guys,

im a noobie here, so forgive me if i dont follow usual Anandtech manners.

Alright, so i have a 52x Compact Disc ReWrittable CD drive. I use Alcohol 120% v1.4.6 [its an older version, i know, but i got it for free 😉 😉 so i dont want to update it if you know what i mean] to burn CD's. so far i have only tried to burn CD to CD, i merely want to make a CD copy. i set the burn speed to Maximum, select a drive with adaquate space to store the temporary image file, use blank CD's that are 52x capable. i dont see where im going wrong....

can anyone help me out???

i would appreciate the help. thanks!

try using several brands. some are really crappy and cant run as advertised on certain drives. my sony faks up on memorex, imation, and prob others. i have always had luck with tdk if thats worth anything

Hi, There is really no standard as to how CD burners are labeled. If yours says something like 52X10X16 then the 52 is read speed. The other numbers are burn speed CDRW and CDR. Some are marked the other way around. Someone else may have better info on this. Jim

yea probably read. read speeds sped up way faster than write of course. and all media even junk has been burnable at very fast speeds for the longest time now, its not even an issue..cdr is so obsolete anyways

I don't believe that is your write speed. Is there any CD burner that can _write_ at those speeds?

 for Budman.

Also - different media will definitely make a difference as will your overall CPU speed.
