I used to watch the Indy 500 on TV -- or at least, the first 10 or 20 laps and then the last 10 or 20 laps. Once CART and IRL split, I lost interest and never really gained it back despite them reuniting. Believe it or not, I've lived my entire 40 years in Indiana and have never been to the actual race (though I've been to the track several times). It isn't my idea of fun to sit in 90+ degree heat where you can barely hear yourself think and on top of that, have to battle 350,000 to 400,000 people in traffic.

had a friend who was an exec at a company w/indy500 tix.
but yeah the race itself was boring
