kingston is moving the 40gb to 30gb to stop competing with x25-v.

a poor choice imo. the 30/40gb line is clearly a make it or break it.

30gb is fine for netbooks or thin clients but windows 7 ultimate+office+etc?? no way.

odd move imo

I agree. After seeing issues with TRIM on 30GB drives at the OCZ forum (i.e. not enough free space to effectively move stuff around for garbage collection and TRIM), I think 40GB is the minimum and personally, I would recommend 60GB or more. I guess if you can keep the 30GB drive under 50% full, might not be so bad but that's difficult to do these days (in my opinion).

It'll be amazing, and expensive. It's going enterprise first and then trickle down to "budget" models in several months. Yeah, $4 /GB. ugh.

My order was canceled, on their end. :( I guess they ran out before it was over. Back to square one looking for another drive.

I have found a Vertex 120GB for $300, that seems like a pretty good deal.
