On the Manafort tip: it turns out he shared polling data with a Russian associate linked to Russia's intelligence agency... and, of course, lied about it to investigators.

Getting really hard for the apologists to pretend that the Trump campaign wasn't actively working with, or at least courting, the Russian government.

Manafort is holding out for a Trump pardon in Nov 2020. He'll be fine in the Joint if he keeps his mouth shut, anyway. He's rich, right? The Russian Mob & the Aryan Brotherhood can help him out on the inside & he can find ways to help out their people on the outside.

Depressed & anxious? Well, yeh. Having Trump as your only chance of ever seeing daylight again would do that to anybody.

He could rat out his Russian friends but the anxiety behind that is probably worse than the prospect of getting buried in the prison cemetery...

None of that is what he planned for his golden years.

Didn’t Manafort have around 30 million a few years ago. How can one person piss thru that amount of money in 10 years or so?

I think there is more to the money than expected

It's hard not to have a grudging admiration for a guy who would take a loan from a Russian oligarch while under indictment for operating as an unregistered foreign agent. Go big or go home. :p

LOL, didn't realize that unmasking a botched redaction is just a matter of opening up the document in Word, highlighting and copying the "redacted" part and pasting into a new file.

Rachel Maddow killed it again Wed night. she laid out all that is known about Manafort and the Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs connected to him. hopefully MSNBC will post the segment on YouTube so it can be posted.

The reporting is saying he's staying onboard until Mueller drops his report on the Russian interference. Note - not the obstruction case.

So...did I miss some bit of news yesterday? I heard [Nadler?] say something about Mueller’s final report is due out in 2 months???

Heard this bit briefly yesterday, but thought it bears discussion in various threads, particularly the catch-all corruption thread:

apparently, the clock tower that is now "guarded" by the Trump DC hotel (still federal property, because the Trump hotel was previous the USPS building, the clock tower has its own separate staff of park rangers the maintain it), found some "secret" funding to keep the staff funded and operated. It is a big draw to the Trump DC hotel because it is the second tallest structure (Washington monument) in the city. Of course, this means revenue for Trump hotel.

The government shutdown means that this property is closed and the federal staff is going unpaid....oh wait, no! These are "special" park staff that get to work throughout the shutdown, because some "emergeny" funding was found in some byline somewhere. It's only a coincidence, certainly, that keeping them paid and the tower open directly benefits the president's business.

Yeah there's a lot of speculation that the Russian part is coming out in Feb/March. Rosenstein is hanging on for that to be released. They were very clear to say it was the Russian meddling part and not the Obstruction one. Also note that Mueller got another 6 month renewal of his grand jury approved. So who knows what is going on there. Maybe the Obstruction part is still chugging along full steam.

Also of note, yesterday Trump lawyered up with *17* new lawyers. Also some rumor mill reporting that Rudy is preparing for an incredibly damning report in February. So take that for what you will.

Apparently job #1 of these 17 lawyers is to keep certain conversations between Trump and his aides out of the public record...indefinitely. In other words, they are already gearing up to assert executive privilege to House Democrats (and defy subpoenas?) and hide damning evidence from the public Mueller report. Trump Admin lawyers are basically down to their endgame now.
