Moved from OT.

$0.75 fine for burning puppies?!!?!?! If India wants to be taken more seriously by the global community, they need to modernize their animal cruelty laws. I'd suggest Singapore style caning for these pricks.

DO NOT VIEW THE VIDEO. It will haunt you, especially if you are an animal/dog lover.

Link to this atrocity removed.

In a horrifying incident of animal cruelty, police in the southern city of Hyderabad have arrested eight teenagers for burning a litter of three puppies alive. The boys, who were all under the age of 18 years, recorded a video of the incident, which was then circulated on WhatsApp and social media.

The first video shows the boys setting the three puppies on fire, after tying them together and covering them with hay, jute bags and dry sticks in a graveyard. While the puppies were trying to escape, the teenagers were seen pushing them back into the fire.

After spotting the video, animal rights activists filed a police complaint. “Unfortunately, there is no harsh punishment for such gruesome killings of animals. They would get away with some fine,” one of the complainants Shreya Paropkari of Humane Society International said.

Hyderabad Police also received a second video of a man shooting two dogs with a rifle. While the first dog escaped, the second was shot. The culprit in the second video has not been identified yet.

The attacks took place two weeks after two medical students in the southern city of Chennai were arrested for throwing a dog from a building's roof. The two had filmed the incident. While the dog was injured by the fall, the two students were caught and released on bail soon after.

The Chennai incident also highlighted the need of a stronger law against animal cruelty. Instead of imprisonment, anyone accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act can be let off with minor fines of as little as Rs 10 (15 cents) and Rs 50 (75 cents).

OP, I share your outrage, but the only reason for posting this in OT is for atrocity click bait reasons. I have also removed your link to the video of this. We do not need nor want graphic links to small scale atrocities on ATF. It is atrocity porn for its own ugly sake, and serves no greater political or social purpose.

I also must WARN you not to make a habit of posting such ugliness for any reason. It will convince us that you are an atrocity pornographer at heart and we will deal with you as such. We are not 4chan.

Not clicking as I don't need more evidence of how cruel people are everywhere.

Also, I object to these types of threads with links to such cruelty and wish they weren't posted on the forum.

If you don't want to leave your safe space, then don't click on the thread. The title was pretty clear.

I think incidents like this need to be publicized. If there wasn't any uproar over them, they will continue. India only fining these guys $0.75 for animal cruelty is ridiculous and they need to be called out on it.

I believe sharing incidents like these are the reason why more of these videos are surfacing.
Ridiculous when you exchange your humanity for infamy.

Uh. Making a note of the evil that people get up to is a good thing.

yeah i don't get what the fuss is about. this kind of stuff needs to be shared. those fucking asshole teenagers should be treated the same way. i really, truly don't understand why people believe humans are superior to other living things. you should respect all life. it's that simple. if you violate that respect, you should be treated the same way you mistreated whatever it is that you mistreated.

Because, unless one person can do one thing to solve an issue, nobody should try and work together right? We should just keep our eyes closed so we dont see the world around us.

Do I DENY (as you seem to assume) that animal cruelty happens?
Do I DENY that the worst imaginable animal cruelty happens all the time and people get off free with it?

NO.

I hate animal cruelty. I'd rather watch a beheading and would likely be "ok" with it but I cannot handle animal cruelty.

But this doesn't mean YOU have to post links here, I can watch such videos (if I ever wished to) at X or Y dot.com where we know that we find this kind of stuff.

But for god's sake not here. You don't need to "prove" that outrageous animal cruely and violence goes on (I know that as well as you) by forcing us watching it, which a link (sort-of) does.

-condescending statement about absolutes being bad-

Now, I understand that there are situations where you can be forced to do evil, like you often see with gang culture (don't do what the guy says, and your family is gonna disappear), but there are also many cases where it's just evil done for self gratification.

And such should be punished with severity. And if it's something as extreme as, say, rape, child rape, sex slavery or sex trafficking, there's no excuse. Too much harm is done, your humanity has been thrown to the wayside by your own whims; you can't be trusted to live as a human being, so off goes your head.

And aye, torturing animals is not exactly something that should be let off lightly. Frankly, if they suffered the same fate in turn, it would be poetic justice.

If it was somebody other than this op I tend to agree. In this case it's nothing but atrocity porn. Particularly given that the same shit happens here in the 'developed world' and, for the most part, the sanctions against such behavior aren't much better than in India.

Is that what you think I'm trying to do? I asked him a serious question. I doubt that he'll be back to answer it though.

Yes. I believe you will first verify what the purpose of his post was. If/when he says that he wants India to change, as that was pretty clear before, then you will explain how he will get nothing done by posting his link.
