It says one day only, you may want to stop by tonight.

I bet tomorrow or Sunday they'll have something similar (maybe a $139 2500 or something).

I made it in today and it actually was quite fun.
The staff were all very friendly and ready to help, but I never really felt pressured to buy.
As someone earlier in the thread said they had enough staff to more than cover the crowd. With 66 checkouts there was no waiting to get to the register.

I wandered the store for two hours and picked up and put back many items I decided I did not need.
Many FAR or cheap after rebate.

I did get one of the $99 computers and it works well.
It was my one impulse buy. Well that and the Polk R15's for $44 a pair.
The computer is in a decent case with an ECS 741GX-M MB.
Have not popped the case to check the hard drive yet.
It is running right now next to me as I type.
Not sure about the Linspire thing yet. I may give it a chance as a web machine.

My Wife dropped me off and went to her stores.
When she picked me up and I told her I bought another computer she just gave me that WHAT??? look.
Then I told her the price and it was OH!.

I need to put one together for a family member so this was cheaper than buying the parts.

Now to explain the hard drive, memory, movies, software................

Oh one more thing. I told her about entering the drawing for the Ford Expedition, Sony 51" tv and the trip to Hawaii.

She thought I said trip to Fort Wayne!

Nothing against Fort Wayne but that would not be much of a prize!

Just got back from Fry's today - no major great deals today. They have some decent media deals (the $8 pack of 25 8x DVDs actually have a $6 rebate). The $100 25" TV seems like a good deal although I passed on it (the picture seemed quite dark compared to the 5 others around it). It seemed like a lot of people were grabbing these though so they may sell out. I grabbed the last $20 radar detector as well as the last $4 hair dryer/tube shrink heater. I also think they have some cheap photo paper and not too bad prices on el-cheapo LCD monitors ($200 17" and $230 19" with a bunch of rebates for the 19"). Oh, and they have a $50 AR 200GB HDD (which I passed on as well).

Needless to say, they opened at 9:00 (actually 8:55) and I got home before 10, so there were that great of deals there today but was still worth the trip.

Now I'm hoping that their rubber band ball goes on sale tomorrow! I so want one of those!! :)

I think I'll leave Muncie here in a few minutes after I grab some lunch. Wanna have plenty of energy for wandering that huge store. I remember being overwhelmed by Incredible Universe the one time I was in there...

I was in the store for about 90 minutes this afternoon, just kinda wandering around. Just bought some compressed air, an ATX power supply tester, and the cheapest multimeter they sold -- couldn't go out empty handed :) I saw a couple pallets of those 200GB HD's, but I hate rebates with a passion. Those $99 25" televisions were flying out the door! I was pretty impressed by the store overall. Gotta keep my eye out for the deals in the future!

Does anyone know of a site showing the Indy ads? The Star is a Gannett paper and they refuse to put display ads on the web.

I don't want to buy a paper everyday just to see if an hour trip to Fry's would be worthwhile.

Today's sales weren't nearly as good as Friday's but were a bit better than yesterday for me. They had 2-packs of canned air for $2 (no rebate and no limit) that I got 10 packs of. They also had some $2 power strips and some FAR $3 MIR ones (I just dished out the $2 each for a couple). They had packs of $0.99 photo paper, some FAR DVD-R (both 8x and 4x). Oh, and some FAR round cable kits (2x IDE, 1x floppy).

Something that they had that I almost bought was a $50 DVD player + surround sound system (sub + 5 speakers) but I ended up passing on it (have already spent way too much this weekend).

Oh, and from 11 to 1 (? unsure on end time) they have $0.25 for a hot dog and pop. Good to grab on your way in or out if you're around at that time.

http://www.frys-electronics-ads.com/ seems to list most / all of the on sale stuff.. I wonder how complete they are. Seems like some stuff may be regional though, so it would be nice to see the Indy ads.

It takes you 3 hours to get to Columbus? Perhaps you should try sticking to the roads that go in the general direction of Columbus... ;)

I went Friday and they had less than 1% of all stocked items at a reasonable price. Everything else can be gotten off the net at a better price, even with shipping, and some things were priced even above BB.

Of course the few things they have on special on each day may make the 10 minute drive worth it if I am in the market for that particualr item at that time.

Very dissapointing indeed.

If BB has a better price, just tell them and they'll match and beat it. You're never going to find a B&M that can beat web prices on everything - forget that if that's what you're looking for. The sales are where the awesome prices are, other than that it's just another BB with a much larger selection. Don't expect much more than that (other than the movie theater). Until this Fry's opened up I had never been to a Fry's but this was pretty much what I was expecting (other than it was much larger than I expected and had more of a selection than I expected).

I drove up from Greenwood on Sunday morning. Got there at 10am, left at 1pm. Talk about a computer geek's paradise! Unlike some other posters in this thread, I thought a sizeable portion of their inventory was fairly competitively priced. Though this is only considering computer-related items since I don't follow other electronics' prices.
I picked up this ram for $145, even with tax it beats newegg. I also picked up this scanner for $115. Comes out to about $3 more with tax - well worth it in my opinion to not have to wait, hope it doesn't break and then risk the dreaded rma.
Also stocked up on a variety of harder to find cables like shorty 2 head uatas, all of which were cheaper than online with the exorbitant shipping places charge for small, low-profit gear.
Friend of mine with whom I went picked up a barebones system she said would have cost about the same online factoring in shipping.
All in all, I was extremely impressed by their selection - but not their sales staff, which was a little too aggressive for my tastes.
I'm glad it's up on the northside, if I were closer I'd probably get myself into trouble spending too much money!

Anyone figured out what day of the week any Fry ads might appear in the Indpls Star? Is it every Friday, or other days also?
Is there any similarity between the Indpls Star print ads, and the ads, available online, appearing in the Houston, TX or Orange County, CA or San Jose, CA papers?
TIA

I heard that a new ad is put in the paper every Friday and also every Wednesday or Thursday. The Wed/Thurs one lasts until Sat. and the Friday one lasts until either Sunday or Monday. That's what one of the sales guys told me last nite.
