CEDAR LAKE, Ind. (AP) — A northern Indiana man who allegedly threatened to "kill as many people as he could" at an elementary school near his home was arrested by officers who later found 47 guns and ammunition hidden throughout his home.

Von. I. Meyer, 60, of Cedar Lake, was arrested Saturday after prosecutors filed formal charges of felony intimidation, domestic battery and resisting law enforcement against him. He was being held Sunday without bond at the Lake County Jail, pending an initial hearing on the charges, police said in a statement.

Cedar Lake Police officers were called to Meyer's home early Friday after he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire once she fell asleep, the statement said.

Meyer also threatened to enter nearby Jane Ball Elementary School "and kill as many people as he could before police could stop him," the statement said. Meyer's home is less than 1,000 feet from the school and linked to it by trails and paths through a wooded area, police said.

The only thing he's guilty of so far is pissing off his wife who called the cops on him. Let that be a lesson to the guys in this forum........... don't piss off your significant other.
 
Oh yeah, I'm sure someone who owns 47 guns hidden around his home is perfectly stable and not a threat to anyone. And it was plenty of spankings as a child that made him that way.

After police arrived at Meyer’s home, which was connected to school property through a series of wooded walking paths, they found 47 guns and several rounds of ammunition, altogether worth more than $100,000, police said. Many of the weapons seized were collector’s items, police added.

On Saturday police charged Meyer, who police said is a known member of a locally notorious motorcycle gang called the Invaders Motorcycle Gang, with four counts of felony intimidation, one count of misdemeanor domestic battery and two counts of misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.

So wait. His wife is the one who turned him in after "after he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire once she fell asleep"?

Maybe his wife thought claiming that he was going to kill a bunch of school kids would be a good way to get him locked up?

To be fair, I would be more worried about someone that left 47 guns laying around out in the open. "Hiding" could be anything from them being in a locked box in the closet to being in a secret murder lair.
 
Notice how a family member reported him and he was arrested? That is they way it is supposed to work.

If you know someone crazy do not ignore them and remove them from your life. That way you know when it is appropriate to report them to the authorities.

Responsibility for your fellow man and kin has fallen out of fashion lately though.

I know 2 people who own a bunch. both collect firearms. neither have killed anyone.

this ain't the number of guns. since he don't have 47 arms. It's a fact i bet the guy has something loose in his head.

having 47 is no more dangerous then having 2.

I am betting at least one of them has something loose in their head. Which one is still an open question.
